PAM233 Winding Issue?
I have a recently acquired 233 from 2008 that I don't believe has been serviced. It runs and keeps time fine, however, I have a slight winding issue. During winding, when the power reserve meter hits 7 days, it starts to click while winding. If I continue to wind, the clicking continues.
Any thoughts on this? |

The mainspring is designed to slip when fully wound to prevent damage by overwinding.

I have revised my post.
Your 233 is normal. The power reserve is closer to 10 days but accuracy falls off after 8 days hence the 8 day meter. My 231 crown stops when fully wound but your 233 crown will continue to turn and click as the spring slips in the barrel.

The meter never goes to 8 days though.

Have you checked how long it runs on a full wind?
The spring could be slipping before the barrels are fully wound. It could need a 14 year service.

Mine does the same from the very beginning when i purchased it new from an AD back in 2016. i start to hear the clicking around 7 days. if i keep winding (with the clicking), the bar will move all the way to the 8 day mark. It keeps time just fine and holds longer than 8 days. Maybe other folks with a 233 can chime in.

The 233 has 3 barrels and i expect each on has a slip function. The clicks are most likely full barrels slipping before all the barrels are fully wound?
