Love my DJ II. The bezel just pops with the rhodium dial and blue arabic numerals.

Kokyuryoku and Air King Dan, your watches are stunning. I like the mimimalist type look of both of your dials. Kokyuryoku, the black band really makes your watch stand out. All the watches in this thread are beautiful.

I absolutely love my 116234 Datejust. With the jubilee bracelet, it is the most comfortable watch I own (other than my G Shocks of course!)...

My wife totally agrees about the jubilee bracelet and how comfortable it feels. Very dressy and yet very practical. Only one other bracelet I like better - the president WG bracelet.

Yeah I did have a piepan gloss black datejust in stainless with 18k wg bezel tiffany & co on the dial. I put it on a black tiffany sharkskin band I shouldn't have sold that

Still have the tapestry (although I am selling it)

And we gotta get some Thunderbird love, especially with the datejust anniversary jubilee dial

I have this picture on my desktop for easy access, it's simply that beautiful. This is probably going to be my first Rolex, unless the TT fluted bezel DateJust somehow grabs the lead.

My first Rolex and it hasn't seen much wrist time lately. I even thought about flipping it. Before listing it I decided to wear it to the office this week and fell in love again...nothing like the DJ....Definitely a classic and must have.

Michael, I LOVE that Tapestry dial. I was looking at a watch similar to yours (but with a fluted bezel) before I bought my 116234. Bernhard watch was asking $3200 for it and I just could not pay that much for it - so I bought a new model. My first and only BNIB Rolex!

I'm wearing it again this week, thanks to this thread
after it stays untouched for 6+ months in the box.

It seems that the shape of the DJ has changed even with the 36mm. When I look at the 2 pictures above, the second one seems more "fat" for lack of a better word. What has been the evolution of the DJ 36mm over the years?

ok, got the answer here :

*Polished centre links (Oyster)
*Revised dial choices

The easy way to tell the difference is the model number: if it's 5 digit, it's the previous generation, if it's 6 digit, it's brand new

Here is mine, 1969 Ref. 1603. ( I still have the original Silver Dial, i had this Charcoal one put on in 1999, when it was serviced. )

Why do i love the watch so much ? i was married in 1969, and my son was born the same year. ( Hey!!! that's what you did in the Sixties. )

I'm personally spying a DJII, but we'll see if they actually come out with the one I want at Basel...

I really like mine! Almost made the mistake of selling it recently, but I am glad that I decided to hang on to it for now.
