Advice needed: 44mm or 42mm

Hi

Am in a dilemma whether to purchase a 44mm 1312, or a 42mm 1392. I have a 6.7inch wrist.

Would like to seek everyone’s advice here. Photo shows the 44mm 1312, do you think it’s perfect or slightly smaller would be perfect instead ? I think the 44mm is slightly big with a tiny bit of overhang if my eyeballs were to zoom in. The 42mm though, is within my wrist with a bit of excess.

Thanks !

Looks good to me, and 1312 is classic Panerai.

please dont get the 42mm. if you going to wear panerai it's 44mm and up.

you can get any other watch at a smaller size just not a pam

Panerai looks better on a wrist if its slightly large. Thats the beauty of that brand. Getting a 42mm will be more difficult to source straps and it limits choices. It is also more difficult to sell one day, I always think ahead of the possibility of moving a watch for another, the resale game.

Go with the 44 mm. Looks good on your wrist. Panerai's are larger and that is the point and the appeal to me.

I own a 42mm the PAM 682 and absolutely love it. It's so wearable in the 42mm size, not small by any means. You can get some good deals on the market for 1392 right now. I didn't see too many 1312's on the market....not sure if your buying brand new. You can see what my obvious answer is lol

The size of the watch is one factor, but the other is how it feels on the wrist. A 44mm will have more heft and that is something that you might like. I personally do not like a watch that feels too light on the wrist. I vote for 44mm.

Thank you everyone for contributing your advice. After much listening and trying on the watch again, I have decided to go with 44mm. It was a close fight between 42 and 44 for a multitude of reasons. Like my friend likes to say ….. first world problems.

Will post some pics once I collect (yes new).

PS the slim lady who served me was wearing a 42mm. I commented to her that if she is brave enough to wear a 42mm, then I must be brave enough to wear a 44. Right ?

Based on your picture, I would suggest a small strap to eliminate much of that excess tail. Otherwise, I prefer 44 to 42 generally as well.

I had the same question for my first and the first Pam should always be a 44 or larger size. Get the second one as a 42.

Thanks ! I think my 44mm wears like the 42mm on your wrist. Which is a good look for both of us.

Thanks all again for your advice. For those who advised 44 and 42, I can definitely agree with both sizes and it was so hard for me.

But at the end of the day…. It was 44 for me. And here are some pics to share :)

Yes slightly big. But it is a well designed case with sloping lugs (has little to no gap between strap and wrist at the corners). And the chunky crown is slightly “suspended” above the wrist, hence there is no obstruction when bending my wrist upwards. Loving it and super super comfy.

Go big or go home. If it doesn't fit and you're not in love with it let me know. I have a larger wrist, and this would look good on me.

Photos are deceiving, it looks a little large, but that's the joy of Panerai; they should be! My most recent is a 47mm and it looks large as well, but it's a Panerai! It wears well and I don't give a crap what other people think, I love it. If you aren't paying for it, wearing it, or married to me then your opinion is worthless to me

Enjoy your new Panerai!

Yours is a good comment. What I don't know if I should tell the friend who is looking for advice is that I see both of them in a dealer and see what he thinks of the weight of each one, although I think that the 1312 is not as heavy as the previous models. What I'm noticing now is that everyone is leaning towards 44mm Panerais.
Regards.
