What happened to self-respect?

Remember the days when ADs were just another retailer doing their best to sell you a luxury item, often at a discount? Did you try to establish a “relationship” back then, or was it mainly a transactional experience? These days some will go to great lengths (e.g. buying jewelry, unwanted models etc.) just to “qualify” for a specific reference. I feel like social-media-fueled hype, perceived scarcity, peer pressure etc. have turned people into mindless consumers, and self-respect is taking a back seat as a result.

Nothing goes in one direction forever. There will probably be a time where the cases sit full and discounts can be had.

The good old days. Even at the car dealerships. I remember they use to tackle you in the parking lot before you even walked in the door. I had to text my salesman 3 times for him to respond.

The "Good Old Days" existed before the internet for most things

Waiting list for 911 is 2 years now. First world problems I guess…
