Rolex in Costco

Went shopping in Costco this morning and noticed a Rolex SS Datejust for sale in their watch display. Price $5,400.00. This Costco is located in Kennesaw, GA. I was unaware that Costco sold Rolex as I thought only Authorized Dealers could sale genuine Rolex watches. What is going on here?

Gray market. Costco often sells slow moving Rolex models.

There are about a gazillion threads on Rolex watches for sale in COSTCO.

Costco sells the occasional Rolex. Period. The end.

Y'all: Thanks for your reply to my question that Costco sells Rolex watches. If this is a grey watch who does Costco buy them from and who holds the warranty? I'm sorry for not locating the gazallion posts on this subject. I'm relative new to this board.

I saw Breitling, Omega and IWC selling at Costco. So why not Rolex. Costco usually offers outstanding warranty/return policy (you can return in 2 years, no questions asked if I remember correctly) so I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them.

Most likely from an ad. You get the warranty from Costco not Rolex.

I don't think there is a warranty (if there is, I wouldn't use it, because who knows who they'll get to fix the watch).

Better to pay for any issues yourself. That way, you can insure the work is done correctly. Of course, this assumes that the Costco price plus the cost of a servicing is less than the AD price.

Alternatively, you could just take advantage of Costco's incredible return policy, which I believe still applies to watches. There's a story of a woman who returned a Tag to Costco for a full refund -- after nine (9) years.

I guess it was helpful to make the OP very aware that he should have used to search function before starting the gazzillionth and first thread on this subject. Classy.....

I bought my Daytona a Costco. Switched the tags and it only cost me $2.99. That damned 3-pack of nylon socks was $11,949 though.

Return applies to watches but if you abuse the policy they reserve the right not to take one back or sell you a new one.

Lifetime warranty on the watch through Costco. They send it to a watch company (not sure who) to repair. They couldn't tell me if that party has access to genuine Rolex parts. So that is the rub... lifetime warranty but who knows what parts. Still if it breaks just return it and wait until they have a new one you want, let them worry about the repair.

My regular Costco has had two YMII's and a SD4K over the past month. 1 YMII remaining. And two lady DJ's.

Yes.

My apologies to the OP.

I should have just sailed by...or factually stated Costco - as a huge low-cost retailer- sells a wide array of branded products.

I guess I just can't understand the fascination with this topic - but we all have our own takes on what interests us about watch brands. And clearly Costco selling a Rolex is a legitimate fascination based on the frequency of these threads.

Post and let post.

Again. My bad.

FYI, Marietta Mike, I saw a datejust at the perimeter Costco (Dunwooody) the other day as well.

While returning it is certainly an option, it's undesirable if you happen to like the watch. If you followed the rule of "costco price plus the cost of a servicing must be less than AD pricing", then getting it fixed yourself is a better option. You can send it to any reputable shop and make sure that the work is done correctly.

Saw this one at the Plano, TX Costco yesterday. Waaayyy out of what I can afford. But it seemed reasonable compared to the 33k? AD price.

So a discount % (yet another popular topic) of over 20%...good for PM yes?
