The Blue on the SkyD and YM are different and no so attractive compared to this. Compared to the OP39 the Bluesy kills it each and every time. I guess you are a less flashy guy since the OP39 is a very plain, simple and understated watch. |

I'd like to see a blue ceramic no date sub. Actually, I'd like to see any other offering in a no date sub on top of the current black offering. Why not blue or green? PLEASE?!?

I'm generally not a fan of TT, but if any watch was going to convert me, it'd be the TT Sub with the sunburst dial. Beautiful!

Here's another pic for good measure...
Looks to me like the dial and bezel match pretty well ... |

FWIW, I think the 5-digit blue has better colour than the present incarnation. But both have a bit of a "car dealer" vibe, it seems to me. |

Car dealer vibe?? What's that?
I asked here on the forum fellow members that owned both 5 and 6 digit ref if the dials are the same blue. No one bothered answering. However, purple patina aside, in bright lighting conditions (as only under these circumstances i had my doubts), the 5 digit seems to be as bright as the 6. So i think they're the same shade of blue... Lame nickname of the watch? It's people's fault with what they choose. For example, i don't like them one bit, don't see any Batman in the BLNR and i hate the Hulk for the LV |

noticed I was trying to upload pics after the forum upgrade. Decided to name it the title it has because the Blue Sunburst Dial Sub has a worldwide following for many years .... Whether it's the 5 or 6 digit TT or full PM... I believe it's a special watch ... Not just because I have one , this reference has been my favorite since I first saw it in my teens before I even had one ... it has absolutely no correlation to being needy ! This model whether TT or PM stands on its own without my help or yours ... |

Has been my favorite and kind of a guilty pleasure. It took me going through a lot of rolex watches before I stopped caring about what other people think of this watch. I believe it is the most beautiful sub and happy I finally got one. Puts a smile on my face every time I wear it. Don't even care that my wife thinks my BLNR is the most beautiful of the Rolexes I currently own. I looked for a payable 5 digit version for a while but couldn't find the right one. Now I am very happy I bought the 6 digit version. Feels very solid and wears great.

So I wanted to revive the thread for members to
Search on bing when the Title of a thread you start is reported by someone bored and is magically changed to " Search on Bing ". Who knew this had anything to do with The Blue Sun dial Cerachron bezel Submariner??? |

LOL, was looking for this thread and see the title was changed.
There was some discussion about the difference between the 5 and 6 digit references. I owned 4 different 16613's over the years. 2 tritium and 2 luminova. The first tritium was an early 16613 from the late 80's and I wore it daily for many years. The dial faded and did the blueple thing. It was unique and different. The second tritium dial, the dial did not change but the plots/hands did develop some nice warm patina. The two luminova dials look very similar to the 6 digit version I currently wear and did not age in the time I had them. I personally do not think the color is much different especially the later 5 digit dials. I was a 4 and 5 digit guy for a long time. I was pretty anti 6 digit. I bought a 6 digit LN back when they first came out and quickly traded it for another 5 digit as I just "hated" the maxi case. Loved the maxi dial/hands, glide lock and ceramic bezel but could not get with the case. A good friend and collector kept telling me that the 6 digit bluesy was the better watch. I had a Daytona that was getting no wrist time, so I traded it to David for a 6 digit Bluesy. For whatever reason, this time the case was a total non issue. Just fell in love with the modern 116613 LB. It was just like back in the 80's when I got my first blue Sub. I liked it so much I bought a 114060 a few weeks later. I guess I am trying to make two points. IMO the dial on the modern version is just as beautiful as the original...and over time, tastes change. Carry On...
