Help please: 18038 - questions
I've had a history with the Day-Date with my grandfather owning one and it being the spark that started my passion for watches.
I can across a 18038 with an aftermarket leather strap and buckle, and stainless steel spring bars. And probably an aftermarket day wheel? I'm not sure - can we please confirm? I was hoping to ask for your help - if I were to source it from RSC themselves (RSC Toronto), would they allow me to take the watch to them and purchase the original parts (springbars, 18k buckle, and day wheel) without a service? As well, would they be able to install the day wheel without the service? Are the OEM spring bars supposedly solid 18k gold too? Any ideas as to the cost? I'd love to source out a leather strap on my own as there are a ton of options. Thank you so much in advance! Oh, and here it is. Please do let me know if anything else looks off. |

You can (I did it for a 1803) source spring bars, strap and buckle (they do gold plated and solid gold) from Rolex, but I do mot know about the date wheel. Looks beautiful, by the way!

ADs should be able to get you the strap parts without issue. As far as the day wheel, that needs to be from a watch maker with a parts account. They'll need to install it as well which may or may not involve a service. You might want to hunt for a bracelet; they're out there for cheaper than Rolex will supply one. Great looking watch; I agree.
