11 year old GMT IIc
Here are more picks of my very well worn (daily for 11 years) GMT IIc. As you can see, it is a true beater. I wear it to all sports with the exception of karate. Tennis, snorkeling, kayaking, running, biking, weight lifting, showering, sleeping, etc. It has seen a "rough life", but it is still mint in my heart. Look at the second photo...all those little "craters" on the side of case, this is the real moon watch! Notice very little stretch in bracelet. The ceramic bezel is truly mint, no scratches or fade, platinum numerals 100% present. The watch was serviced once 4 years ago. I still regret that I let the RSC polish the watch, as they erased the patina. The rest of the crew just mostly hang out in safe. I like them too, but the practicality is just not there for daily use. With my Rolex I never have to worry about what I am going to do that day.

Great watch!! You’re using it the way it was meant to be used. I wear my BLNR for everything as well. It’s only been a bit more than 2 years though

Despite what people may say about the newer Ceramic models they still look sharp after years of wear.

This is what I love about watches. They are life companions. They will keep on ticking no matter what happens to us. I love every single scratch on my watches. Sometimes I sit down and admire my scratches.

From the old world I love mechanical watches, they are the most perfect artifact and from new world I like smartphones to be able to read stories about watches like yours! Thank you

It's stories like these that made me look at wear and tear on my Rolex differently. I used to be concerned about scratches/damage - not anymore. It's not about keeping it in "like new condition"... It's about enjoying it to the fullest.

I always like seeing watches used as intended. I roll my eyes when I see people freaking out over one little scratch.

Love the character of your 116710! I’m trying to build the same patina!

Cool
I still really “baby” my watches. It will take some getting used to wearing it while at the gym, gardening..... etc

Wow...The GMTIIC has been around that long. Time flies!
I got one nearly 7 years ago - which makes it an unintentional birth-year watch for my Son. No service yet...but a new mainspring a year or so ago. My favorite modern Rolex...though I don't think I would pay 2018 prices for it! |

I am guessing Lange and Seiko is your crew as the pic is not sharp at all. Your GMT looks great for daily wear and I am happy to see others who do not baby their watches. Must have great memories... I am only surprised about the stretch as I was under the impression that the modern bracelets hold better.

stretch
the stretch is very minimal. Compare it to a brand new bracelet.

I got my GMT-IIC during my first year of marriage. I also bought a Porsche Cayman S (which I still have, with 19k miles). As you can imagine, I felt guilty, so I evened the score with this. She has worn it every day for 11 years as well. I had to convince her to buy it, and she chose the most plain model in the counter (she didn't want anything shiny, not even the bezel). Over the years it has grown on her. All the better for wear-her second favorite companion (I hope). Funny, I now drive a Chevy volt (kept the Porsche because my sons want to drive it one day), but still we wear the same watches.

I wear my 116710LN for almost every situation and every activity including the one-you-must-not-speak-of. Still runs like a champ...only wish it didn't have PCL's (Polished Center Links)...

Quite easy to reverse as well, but that I would not try myself. Personally I like the PCL for that touch of extra bling and the scratches create a nice even patina over time
