Probably not meaningful enough to release a new or special Sub. Current 116610LN is only 5 years old. But who knows, they might surprise us.

Depends on how you interpret OP's (vague) question. As written, I took it to mean he's asking if Rolex the company is having an anniversary this year. If we read his question as asking whether any Rolex models are having an anniversary this year, then of course you're right: the Sub turns 65 this year.

I don't know that that really tells us anything though. As Vic noted, 65 isn't a meaningful year for a company that is very selective when it comes to celebrating anniversaries.

8 years, actually. It debuted in 2010. The no-date came out in 2012. The super-case Sub design as a whole is 10 years old, as the WG blue came out in 2008.

I'm going to throw this out there even though it's a bit of a long shot:

This year is the 65th anniversary of the Explorer (and Sir Edmund Hillary) climbing Mt. Everest.

That being said, the Explorer just got an update 2 years ago, so I doubt anything would come of it.

Not by Rolex standards. The 16610 was in production for over 20 years before the 116610 replaced it. Granted, by the standards of a lot of other brands, 8 years is an eternity.
