It’s 2AM, I am in NYC. Can’t sleep. Going running

I have had a lot on my mind the last month with family issues and personal problems. The end result is my brain never turns off and I get very little sleep. I listen to music, scan TRF... nothing is working tonight so I am doing my morning two mile run a little early today. If anyone sees a short guy running out of the Hyatt wearing Nike shorts and Saucony shoes that’s me; no idea where I’m going. See you guys when I get back.

Back, actually felt great, and no one in this city sleeps either apparently. I thought I would have the streets all to myself, people were everywhere, at 3AM! If someone didn’t recognize me running by my bad, I wore Addidas shorts not Nike.

Sorry to hear of your troubles Paul, hopefully all will come into focus soon. On a good note I see you've been entered onto the upcoming Hulk giveaway!

NYC never sleeps! When I was living there full time I would run almost every morning at 5 am and on my way yo Central Park I would see so many people already up going to work or my favorite was a lot of people still coming home from the bars! Gotta love NYC.

Sorry about your troubles....been there! I, like you, use running as a therapist. One foot in front of the other....relates to a lot of things in life! Stay positive

Paul, I hope your troubles get cleared up soon for you. Running is a great way to relieve stress and clear your mind. I ran a little over 6 miles yesterday.

Sometimes pulling out a pad of paper and a pen is just as good as a long run. Writing things down helps get your thoughts out and then reflect on them later.

Be Well my friend. See you soon...

My wife always complains when I come home with an outrageously expensive bike until I remind her that I don't solve my problems with booze, drugs, gambling or tens of thousands of therapist bills.

Running used to do it with only a $100 pair of shoes, but sciatica cut the cheap option out for me.

Best thoughts going out to you Paul.

Thanks again everyone, here it is the next night, 3:30AM. No sleep tonight either, but last night’s really helped so I’m doing it again. If you see a short-ugly man running the streets of Manhattan in a couple minutes that’s me.

Hey Paul if you get some exercise in your daily routine, eat healthy and do carry on exercising in the longer term, i believe your mind will be freed from a lot of trouble. I have been in a similar position in the past and that helped me a lot.
By the way, we love you man

Isn't it just the time zone difference ?

Or . . . because you left Anna alone at home for the first time . . . ?

Alternatively when this happens, you could call for “room service”

Paul, I'm going to second this great advice :

Personal issues, family, work, friendships, we all have them; they're part of life. You will always have your nutty friends here to confide in as well my friend.

Alcohol messed with the sleep cycle, might get you to sleep quickly but quality of sleep is lower.

Running is best, take an ice cold shower after and slide into bed, feels amazing. Also make sure to keep the sleeping room as cold as possible. Lower body temperature is better quality sleep. Better sleep means feeling better.
