Icon10 ProTip: identify OP41 from OP36 quickly!

I am sure some of you are already pros at this, so this is for those of us who are less pro in identifying these almost identical watches in wrist shots and such.

A new incoming thread from a forum member, and a couple of people asking if it were 36 or 41, had me search for a quick identifier and after a few minutes of digging in, I found one.

Look at the hour hand. OP41 has a longer hour hand almost touching the hour markers. OP36 has a shorter hour hand that stands further away from the hour markers.

You can also look at the coronet on the dial. Both the 36 and 41 use the same coronet but different size (length) batons. So, if the batons are LONGER than the coronet, it’s a 41. If the batons are the same length as the coronet, it’s a 36.

Glad you all find it useful. I know I always struggle with DateJust 36 vs 41 when I am looking at a wrist shot.

Anything to help detect these watches from one another and make us feel like a pro that we are!!!

You’re probably good at these kind of “spot the difference between these two pictures”

Indeed. The index proportions relative to the dial are also a lot smaller on the 36.

There is indeed differences in those two pics. Buy in think your point is one is smaller than the other.

Looking at the two OPs side by side, sure it doesn’t take a genius to detect which is which.

On a wrist shot? Or standalone? If you can tell which is which by just casually looking at the pics below, you are one of the pros thst done need any tips.

I think it looks that way because of the size of the photos. There’s something else.

Nice catch indeed.

May I add that comparing the hour hands makes for an easier 'quick tell' for me than comparing the minutes hands, though more subjective, I find it instant.

On the left side the winding river next to her arm has two vs three turns.

Saw that almost right away, but thought you were making a different point ( left one being 20% or so bigger in size. )

The one on the left is a lot fitter than her sister on the right.
Although, ironically, the less attractive one is supposed to be more of a goer once she's had a few drinks,

Good sherlock there!

Now the question is which hour hand does the mass prefer? The long or the short? Keke.

In a vacuum the 36 looks best to me. Proportions and legibility.
