At the ad! Help

Hi all,

Literally a few hours ago I posted about wanting to purchase a 310.30.42.50.01.002

I thought I'd pop over to my AD and they had a preowned 2021 speedy at about 25% off list.

I'm here now, it has all of its warranty cards etc but the box is the old style box?

I asked them and they were kind of like hmmm we didn't even realise. The sellers are an omega, rolex and patek dealer so I know I'd never get scammed but the old box is a bit off putting... but then again a 2021 watch for 27% off list?

Here's some pics it comes with two natos and a bracelet removal tool but no omega loup.

They are saying when their customer purchased it (from another dealer) he may have requested to have the old box... I don't know? What are your thoughts 20211022_174612.jpg20211022_174634.jpg

This is the pre 2021 Speedmaster box, it is up to you if you go ahead and buy
If you say the AD is official Omega then they should have known this is the old box.
There should be a loupe, black nato strap and a black size bracelet tool in that box

Dont know what to say......:)

27% list, from an AD with papers brand new... Do it. If you want to sell down the line, you'll probably be able to pick up the correct box.

If the papers match the serial number of the watch and everything else looks legit, I say go for it, you are not going to wear the box on your wrist!

It’s not brand new, it’s second hand.

This is where you have to decide how much being the first owner with the correct box and extras is worth to you.

Only you can put a price on this!

I didn’t realize omega AD would also sell pre-owned omega . Frowned upon in the Rolex universe.
Personally I would not buy it with the wrong box. If it’s an AD, they should have no problem supplying you with the correct box though.

Almost every single rolex AD in the UK sells preowned Rolex
Pragnells
Goldsmiths, WOS, Mapin & Web
Frazer Hart
BUCHERER
And many many more.

I am off there again tomorrow to see if they will put it in a new 2021 box and we have a deal :)

Sorry didn't realize it was used. I would be fine if everything matched and they were able to source you the correct box

I would buy it. I kinda couldn't care less what sort of box comes with it. Every time I've acquired new Omega watches, the watch come out of the box, the box goes into a cabinet in my home, and then I never see that box again.

For a 25% discount off of MSRP I'd take the incorrect box.

All my watches are together in a watch box inside of the safe. The boxes in which they came are in two clear plastic containers on top of the closet.

I can't wear a box and no one will ever know, unless of course you plan on flipping it. Even then, the resale would only be reduced by a few hundred, if even that.

Buy it, it's a great watch!

If you ever sell, potential buyers will be asking the same question. If you don't plan on selling, then enjoy the discount and the watch.

I believe that most, if not all, dealers don’t care about the box. When I bought my wife her Date 34, the box had a blemish that I pointed out- the SA shrugged her shoulders and went in back and swapped out boxes with another Rolex. I really think that some of them probably laugh at how obsessed we can be.

Sell the old box and buy the new one, seriously it’s just a box.

I’d buy it for 25% off. Does it have the nato and the other bits in the box? That in itself is worth a few quid.

If you are not sure and may flip then you are going to take a bath anyway so get the best discount you can.

The Speedmaster 3861 is a great watch and the discount offered is right where you need to be. I would buy the watch, put the box on the shelf with the rest of them and enjoy the watch. I have the 3861 and the 1861 and the box for the 1861 is a lot better and you get some goodies that are not offer with the 3861. Good luck and lets see some pictures of your new watch.

Considering the new box doesn’t come with all of the fun stuff the old one did, I’d take the old one

Damn. I wish I were in the UK. No Omega or Rolex dealers here sell used.

Brand new and scarce.

Nooo Canada!

OP - I think missing box is relfected in the price. Think of it as no box. Discount is substantial as long as everything checks out.

Here he is folks.

They weren't prepared to put a new box with it. Decided that I'm getting a pretty decent discount, I'm going to sell this box and use it towards the purchase!

Nice Omega

I think the sapphire sandwich is the hot, desirable version. Nice to hear you found a bargain on one.

Obviously the owner bought the wrong box off of ebay before he sold it to the store, that's all. Use it as a bargaining chip to get another couple hundred off
