I’ve got a 1 acre lot that is heavily wooded. I count on my gas leaf blower to maintain my yard along with a riding mower and leaf catcher. For light duty I’ve got a Stihl battery powered blower that is great. The run time is just to short to maintain the entire yard. I’ve switched my weed eater to Stihl battery also. Works great. At my cabin electric won’t get the job done at all. Gotta be gas. What’s next…no more gas chainsaws?

I’d prefer electric for everything…it’s much easier.

PG&E has to transition their gas equipment for downed trees, etc., when we get our seasonal wind storms etc., that require tree removal.

Does this apply to the logging industry as well?

I honestly don’t know there’s so much local conflict online over this. I get it but at the same not sure if it’s realistic. Minus leaf blowers and lawn mowers. Still sounds like we have until 2024 to comply though.

Also, here in SF there aren't any large yards if any at all... leaf blowers that are used are electric and my neighbor’s lawnmower (his lawn is like 100 sq ft), works like a charm. I'd like to note though, they are still loud and very audible. Outside of SF, in larger more expensive communities such as those in Los Altos etc., have 12 car garages and massive landscape and very big front lawns. So I'm sure the 0.1% is very happy with the change while sipping their morning tea.

Doesn't seem plausible but I couldn't find anything referencing it with a quick search. I'm sure they have a healthy lobbying arm.

They better build some public fast battery charging stations or all the people that vote for those goons will actually need to go out and do some yard work because the lawn care industry will certainly thin out with this ruling. |

This takes effect in 2 years and won't really be even a glitch. In 10 years or less it will be in every state. It's like when my milkman complaining they were taking his horse and cart away and giving him a truck to drive. Change is hard.

This reminds me of the late 60s with the introduction of the early emission systems on vehicles. The restrictions on the emissions of hydrocarbons into the atmosphere was/is a hugely popular problem. California lead the way by banning the sale of vehicles without hydrocarbon reducing emission controls.
Today every vehicle produced has the same anti-pollutant devices installed on them, however much more sophisticated. The early days of smog pumps, transmission controlled spark, temperature control senders and distributor timing was all a part of the systems. A lot of Americans were upset. In some car club circles the exact VIN of California cars is well studied and documented. So I suppose some of these ICE contraptions will become collectible items one day? |

Worse than the leafblowers are the little two stroke motor bicycles.
Noise pollution, air pollution, and a menace in traffic.

Remember when a rake and a broom were a thing?
Nice backyard, by the way.

If I do not keep up with a bi-weekly routine of leaf blowing, I would never be able to clear it all. PS - Just finished and it again looks like I never even started. |

When I was clearing leaves today I thought to myself "Is Paul going to ask if his room was ready" I do agree with you and your situation. I too would be irritated if the landscapers were that rude. And anytime my friend, the door is always open. |
