Is the RM new? If it is, I would think that it's okay, but would not add the extra 10K in cash, because you are better of selling all those watches individually.

If the RM is pre-owned...I might hold out on the 2 SS rolexes and the 10K or 1PM piece and the 10K.

Taking all of this into consideration, I would not do the trade. RM's - market for them is softening...to many models in too many variations. Quite a few grey dealers in Asia have plenty of models in stock...especially all the NPT Mclearn models. Even for an RM 35......doesn't make sense unless you (or I) have money to burn, and if you (I) did then you (I) wouldn't need to trade all those watches. PLus, I much prefer variety and love your current collection.

Probably no.
The RM seems like used according to pic.
I would sell the rolexs individually to get the best value, and add cash to buy brand new.

Yes, get rid of those Rolex watches and the PP.

Grab that RM.

Having said that it’s your decision and at the end of the day you must do what makes you happy.

They are just watches.

RM lack of water resistance, combined with short and expensive service intervals says you will wonder why you made such a bad decision

I would not. You would be giving up a lot to get a watch that I do not get. In the long run I believe the RM style will fade and you will be left with a less than desirable watch that will not be tradable or sellable for anything near what you have in it.

If the RM is your ‘thing’ it doesn’t matter what we say, but personally, I’ve never liked the whole RM style. It’s almost too trendy, vs a PP which is timeless. IMHO

Good luck with your decision.

The RM had a full overhaul which took nearly 4 months, it is indeed a slightly used watch but everything was replaced including the case totaling nearly $16k

Appreciate all the feedback.

The RM is a nice piece, somewhat rare, and weighs almost nothing but like most of you said it is simply too much to give up for one watch. I’ve been wrestling with the decision for a few weeks now but now the feedback affirmed that this isn’t a worthy trade.

PS - out of all the watches I’ve listed only the DD II held it’s value and I was offered what I paid for it 6 years ago.

I don’t know the going rate for RM service - or the long service backlog/interval they have. But wouldn’t the service costs for the various watch brands and quantity of inventory that he’d trade be about the same?

OP:
As for the multi-level trade, I’d only do this if you aren’t wearing the ones you’d trade. If you can swing the RM in your finances for 90-days, and sell off the models you’d otherwise trade, you will get a better final result. Possibly save the $10K in cash, and maybe even save one of the lower valued pieces currently under trade consideration.

It will be cheaper with several watches rotate the wrist time and extend the maintenance periods. So RM will cost more.

A $16k overhaul on a watch that's how old? I guess this is another item to put on the "what I don't get about the appeal of an RM."

Hey, you should get what you like! It does seem like the market value of RM watches may be a bit more volatile than Rolex of PP watches. Kind of like comparing the stability of bitcoin to the dollar or Euro. From an esthetics and enjoyment perspective, which is really all that matters, only you can decide how much you want one.

No. I appreciate RM but I wouldn't give up all that for one. If you have some play money and want to do it and keep what you have, go for it. But do not give up those pieces for it. My .02.

Can't get excited about RM. Seem like a lot to give up and will be a hard one to sell when you're looking to move on.

I would take off the BLNR - I think you are going over the price of the RM. Keep in mind the case of that Richard Mille, I know it and if it scratches you are in for a pretty penny. Also that reference although beautiful is not as desirable as the Nadal with the red details. A few years ago you could get that watch for 60k now it is in the 80k range, So let's say that the Deepsea is about 11K , Daytona 12K, Patek 35-40K, DD 20K. Those 4 you're about 83k give or take. No need to add an extra 9k for the BLNR. If you really like it go for it IMO but do know what you are getting into as far as service etc. I had a RM005 Plat and trade it for a 5980RG and don't regret it a bit. Let us know what you do!!
