Hell No

But I'm in the camp who just doesn't 'get' RM at all.
If you love the watch, and it's considered a good deal, go for it.

Agree 100%. The price and severity of the service should by itself scare you away.

I would not. Too many good pieces given up for one exotic watch

That was many yearsss ago.. Since no more discounts. even for vip clientele with multi million dollar purchase history you get no discount. In fact.. Every year price increase X%... However, vip clients gets to buy “hard-to-get pieces” at FULL retail price.

Noway. Not for that RM, some RM looks nice but some looks cheap with lots of stamped parts.

My thoughts too.

A beautiful collection should be anchored by a watch that feels truly special to you. My anchor is the PP 5712 and I wouldn't trade it for anything. (although the 5990 sometimes calls to me...lol)

If the RM could be your anchor, then you should consider trading "lesser pieces" for it. But, for what it's worth, I don't see the RM as having the versatility or beauty of the lovely collection you'd be sacrificing. In fact, while I greatly admire RM pieces, I generally don't care for them on the wrist.

You will regret it in 6 months or less. It’s just a fad watch.

My love for RM remains unaltered, but I won't take on such a deal as far as am concerned. However, don't let us stop you if that's what you want.

RM is really, really special, but it's not everyones thing. Short of a couple models, RM flies way more under the radar than many pateks or Rolex watches do to 99 percent of people. I have my first coming from boutique in a few months, and am REALLY excited. I've also hit the point where I've had most "normal" high end pieces and am trying to have stuff thats REALLY special and REALLY unique. If you're ready for that, you're ready for RM. So maybe not for this specific one, but the desire won't wane till you end up with one...

Can anyone briefly explain the allure of a RM? It never has done much for me(not that I can afford it - but still).

Materials and exclusivity, that's it? Any innovations in movement etc etc? Not knocking anyone who owns one or desires one I just don't understand the draw.

Just the shape and movements. Alongside with huge social media and celebrity presence rocking these in the past few years has had them going above and beyond retail at premiums. The boutique play the same games as AP boutiques forcing you to buy their lesser in demand ladies and circular RM models to get the hot stuff. To be honest, id never buy one as like frank muller these are junk waiting for the end. No real brand value/history, just pure hype and high retail price tags. In this case, the RM 35 does not look worth it in anyway and trading soo many watches to get it is not the way

I’d probably get a RM55 before the AD even offer any of the Nautilus to me. Seems like you’re giving up a lot. Not a huge fan of this 35.

Maybe tell them instead of 10k cash, they can have the Apple Watch lol. Another thing for consideration is how much wrist time have these pieces been getting. You seem to have quite a few pieces, I wouldn’t mind downsizing so they all get decent wrist time.

I can imagine that the RMs really do fly under the radar like no other six digit watch. Unless you are in South Beach or at a Hollywood party, no one who saw it on your wrist would think it was expensive or special. It's the ultimate "unless you know watches..." piece.

From the little I know I share your sentiment, thanks for the info.

I just searched chrono first RM that popped up was a red 177k QUARTZ watch - God Bless them and the people who like them.

Different strokes for different folks.

OP - Don't give up that many pieces for 1 unless you REALLY know you need to have it.

This, and it's one of the reasons they've become pretty coveted at a point, as a YG daytona looks way more expensive. They do also, for many of the watches have some really interesting technological advances...but mainly it tends to relate to light weight...like SUPER light weight. The rm67-02in NTPT is only 31 GRAMS, making it the lightest automatic watch they've made and one of the lightest EVER...to boot, the watches are often made (the model does matter with this obviously) to endure rather extreme environments. They've pretty much created one of the most expensive functional sport watches for ACTUAL sport of all the various manufacturers. They will never be everyones thing, and for many they will be just another marketing campaign special for people with too much cash to burn, but for some, it's a really unique, and very special company.

This does not mean that the movement is quartz, it's that the case material is NTPT Quartz.
