Uncertainty About Royal Oak Sizing

Hi y’all. I’ve been wanting a RO for some time now, but keep going back and forth on the sizing. I have a 6.5-6.75” wrist and normally wear a subC. I’m curious for folks who own a subC and a RO, which model would be closest in actual size on the wrist? I’d love a 15202 but don’t want to pay over retail, so I keep going back and forth between the 15300, 15450 and 15400/15500.

I have a sub and the 15202 felt too small for me, then again that is one of the reason many people love the watch because of it's size and thinness. I went for the 15400.

The 25860 had the perfect dimensions aside from the SubC. I sold my ROC to make room for another acquisition and regret it. The current models are just too large for my wrist. I’m waiting for the 38mm to come out this summer to see how they feel.

I wear both Subc and 15400 and my wrist size is 6.75”, the RO wears a little larger but is definitely more comfortable due to low caseback and better bracelet that organically wraps around on the wrist. Sometimes I think the RO looks a little big on me but most of the time it looks fine. I chose the silver dial variant of the 15400 over 15202 because it looks sharper and livelier with its angled hour markers and shimmering dial. Also, the 15202 has a stiffer bracelet which doesn’t wrap around as readily and the sides frare out from the case creating a weird look on my small wrist.

As for the size, you just have to try and decide for yourself, it’s not just the wrist circumference that matters but also the shape and the size of your hands and overall body proportions.

Overall, on my wrist I prefer the second gen VC Overseas to both of these, it just fits perfectly (and is one hell of a bang for the buck in today’s market). Both Sub and RO will get noticed and recognized, the VC I am free to enjoy without having to take that into consideration.

Very good point on the VC OS. Great bracelet. Far more comfortable thant 15400. Great watch in general

I suspect you’ll get drastically different answers on this depending on people’s taste. I wear both a subc and a 15450 and love the fit of both (for different situations of course).

I had a blnr and now have the 15400.. the 15450 just felt too small on me but I didn’t get a chance to try on any of the 39mm variants. The 15400 definitely looks a bit bigger than a blnr front a flat wrist perspective but overall as a fully body shot I don’t think it looks that much bigger due to its profile and the bracelet

I have about a 6.25" wrist and the 15400 was too big but 15450 is perfect. I think with your wrist size you'd be fine with the 15400.

I have a similar wrist to you and I find the 15400 too big. 15450 is too small for my taste and 15300/15202 just perfect. 39mm as Genta designed it.

My wrist is just under 6.75", and is pretty flat on top. When I tried on the 15400, I felt it was a little big on me, but I could pull it off. But my wife thought it looked great on me. I also tried on the 15450, and thought it fit better, but my wife thought it looked too small.

So I bought the 15202ST, which we both agree fits great on me.

P.S. I had a BLNR, which fit fine. I've never tried on a Sub, but I assume the SubC would fit similarly to the BLNR?

Go 15450 or 15202. Better proportions for this type of watch IMO. ROC or ROO look better bigger. And I had the 15400 and went to 15450

Pretty happy with the 15450st. I feel like I can wear it more as a daily compared to a 15400. I had a white 15400 a couple years ago and flipped it.

i have a 6.75 inch wrist slightly flat and wear both subC and 15400. sometimes i think the 15400 is too big. sometimes i think it is perfect. i do wonder if the 15450 might have been better but on other hand who knows?

i reckon you could pull off either so see what turns up?

I reckon the fact that you have a concern
Is the concern

You'll know when you find what feels right to you

I felt like the 15400 was too big
15202 just right

Occasionally I think it looks small in a mirror shot, but it looks right when I check the time

The angle change the appearance, especially if you're a fusspot. I think the angle you see it, is check the time, is the most important

I also, now prefer 5 digit Rolex to 6

Since you have a 6.5-6.75” wrist there are only 2 options. 15300 or 15202. Forget the 15450 its for girls or guys with girls size wrists (<6,25). 15400/500 is way to big. You need 7+ at least for that one in order NOT to look a fool wearing his fathers watch.

I have both the 15450 and 15400 (7.25 wrist). Trust me, the 15450 does NOT wear like a pre-ceramic sub or daytona as being said in so many threads. I bought the 15450 because of that. In fact, Its realy small. Not the case size, and here is where everyone goes wrong, its the tiny dial which makes the watch totally disappear on the average wrist. See pic below with my daytona and 14060m and pay attention to th dials. Close-up on the wrist the 15450 may look ok, but in the mirror/some distance totaly different story.

The 15400 is big. Think exp2 + a little. I can barely pull it off with 7,25 and even so it sometimes makes me feel like a hublot clown. So i'm waiting for a nice 15202 and flip my 15450/15400 for it

<6,25: 15450
<7.25: 15300/15202
>7,25: 15400/15500

I find the 15450 to wear exactly like my ceramic daytona. We are talking minuscule differences in size, if any.

I have a 7" wrist, and the 15400 wears nice, but is on the large size. It definitely wears bigger than the subC. If my wrist were smaller I would opt for the 15300.

I really like both on my wrist, for your wrist size, I'd probably say go with the 15300, unless you like a watch that wears big for you.

Here are a couple comparison shots. You can see the integrated lug design on the 15400 extends wider than the Sub/BLNR by a few mm's.

Daytona is the perfect size for my taste and wrists. But sorry, i have to strongly disagree, no way the 15450 wears similar. Look at my pic, blind man can see the 15450 is way smaller.

Tip: Let someone take a pic from a distance wearing your 15450 with short sleeves. I have taken 15450 close-ups which look perfectly fine but 2M away its like i'm wearing my wifes watch. The 15450 is realy a weird watch sizewise. Even A DJ 36 wears bigger on me.

If the 41mm on strap fits me then does that mean the full bracelet will fit fine?

the 15450 case may wear similar, with the long lug design, but on the wrist, especially from a distance, it will certainly look smaller since the dial is small, and the bezel and case blend together.

The daytona black ceramic bezel makes it appear larger than it is I think.

of course it's close, we're only talking a 4mm difference from 15450 to 15400.

To me, the AP definitely looks smaller in those pics than the Daytona.

Man that Daytona looks awesome though, and perfect size for you! I need to work on getting one

I know. After posting this pic, I actually can't wait to get mine on again! Best of luck to you in your hunt for one! It's probably the perfect watch IMO

In my experience if you have a flat wrist of 6.5” or over the 15450 definitely wears small. The white dial 15400 looks bigger on the wrist than the black or blue dial - not seen the ruthenium dial to comment.

I know this thread has been dormant but the info is still relevant. If I've found it useful, I'm pretty sure others still will. My wrist, 6.5" around, 2.33" across. 15400 too big. No chance to try on a 15300. Opted for a 15450 but am waffling about trading this unworn piece in for a used 15300 since to my eye, and the wife's as well, it wears a bit small at a distance. The conundrum is that even tiny watches appear larger when photographed up close. Here is the 15450 at two viewing lengths. Notice how different they look. I'd say from another's point of view it's borderline small?

Go for the 15400/15500. The spectacular dial at 41mm will fit you perfectly!
