I would counter argue as Baselworld was so bad it will drive even more people to vintage! Just what we need, 16610's at 10k because the new ones look awful.

Agree 100%. However, had they offered that black datejust at 38mm it would have been a homerun for modern and vintage lovers alike...

I wouldn't. 36mm is a perfect size for most people (even with a larger wrist). Enough 39/40/41mm options in the DJ/oyster line-up.

I think that releases in recent years have helped the four and five digit models in terms of desirability and retention.....2019 has cemented that even further?

I think so. The new Yacht Master is a really nice watch. But i don t need a white gold sports watch. The "entry" customers a more likely attracted by the old 4- or 5-digit stainless steel models for the activities of there daily living - and rolex steps beyond to other clients with higer needs.
