IWC Big Pilot or Panerai Submersible

Hello all!

Need some opinions on my next watch. I am debating between 2 pretty different pieces: IWC Big Pilot & the Panerai Submersible Carbotech.

I've loved the big pilot for a long time now but the Carbotech makes it so cool.

Pictures are of the actual watches at my AD on my wrist.

Hard to tell from the angles of the pictures but the BP seems to look better on your wrist. I've had the BP, and a number of 47mm PAMs (not a Sub), and the BP definitely wore smaller.

But those two are impossible to compare, two completely different watches. What fits your life better?

I tried a carbotech on recently... it was hard to give it back to the sales guy...
so I guess you know which way I'd go.... but they are both very nice.

cheers

Two very different watches. If it's going to be 100% casual, I'd probably go with the Panerai.

Good luck!

the date wheel on the Panerai is stuck

Both are big -- too big for my skinny wrists -- but the Big Pilot looks more balanced. My feeling on the Panerai is you should go with a 44

I would say the Panerai! But i am biased! I think the submersible is more unique. There are a lot of pilots watches around, but dont think anyone makes a watch that even resembles the submersible. I think the carbotech is very cool too. Overall, between both these watches there are no wrong decisions.

I work in an office building but I am pretty active. To be honest both would fit my life, I have a pretty sprawling collection so neither watch will really add any utility other than just being cool.

Apologies if you thought I was being rude. I like both, and own a Panerai. I would own a SS watch over a dark carbon type of watch though.

I have always loved the Big Pilot....

If I were to get the Submersible I would still crave a BP. If I got the BP I don't know if I would be wanting for the Submersible.....

I guess I just answered my own question

Not rude at all! I was agreeing that it would be difficult to get a majority either way

Big Pilot!!! I was facing almost the same dilemma, having a tough time deciding between the BP and the PAM 1305 (Titanium 1950's case sub, 47mm)...I went with the Big Pilot Le Petit Prince edition, and I am thrilled!!! Can't wear it until Christmas day though...but I can look at it al I want until then!!! LOL
Seriously, go for the IWC. You won't regret it!

Sometimes it's good to talk it out!

I think you've arrived at your own answer. And to add, yes there are a lot of Pilot watches but this is THE Pilot watch for me.

Wrestled with a similar decision between the BP and a different Panerau. Went with the BP, no regrets at all... Good luck

BP all day long! I too had the same dilemma - BP or PAM. At the end, I went with the 5009. Love it! No regrets at all.

Big P. Looks much better on your wrist. I think that watch wears much smaller than its size. I’m actually debating between a big p and a pam 372. Leaning toward the 372 based on cost though.

Big Pilot.

I like PAM, and I like carbon fiber. but i won't get one that uses spring bars.
