I'm with you here; it's been a third of a century since I was in the dating market place. I too wouldn't worry about what I wore on my wrist. I have some qualifications that need to be met for me to be interested in a dating partner. The watch doesn't affect the type of person I'd be interested in.

Put on a casual watch. It's a win win, you get to see if she is truly interested in you.
In all reality it does not matter, you should be a good enough judge of character to know if she is into you regardless of what's on your wrist. have a good date! |

As a single guy, I don't wear anything that displays wealth when going on dates. I have my Fitbit on, and that's it. Not interested in gold diggers at all.

She won't notice the watch, but pay attention to what shoes you wear.

I’m married so I haven’t given this any thought but I’d probably play it kind of conservatively and leave it at home for the first few dates. Then again, I generally wear mine 24/7 so I might just say screw it and wear it anyway. It’s not a problem I have so don’t listen to me... I’m rambling.

I'd wear it just to read her, but I'm happily married so I guess it's not relevant to me

I see some are sceptic about the influence. If someone has been lucky in his life and is looking for a partner it certainly ain’t one dimensional. There are many women who are not honest and innocent even that they look like that and are pretty. Men with money have to be very careful with wealth influences and really read the game in many levels. Of course wealth has it’s natural biological influence of security, which is normal.
Surprisingly many women know Rolex, not references or so, but they do know Rolex. I am not a professional in dating, but i usually talk for hours with girl and do not talk anything about money or business, nothing. Rolex and a nice car can be used as a good wingmen :) Few guys who are friends of mine have made this quite precise and complicated excel sheet of paying to have a woman in your life, one way or another. And it turns out that this one time fee per girl model is surprisingly cheaper than the long term subscription :)

It all depends on what the goal of the date is. Eventually I was after a permanent relationship. When I figured out that was what I wanted then I started thinking about the attributes of the person I wanted to spend my life with. There were character traits like intelligence, honesty, kindness, social ability, ... Ultimately for me I came up with a list of 25 character traits. My dating life wrapped up pretty shortly after that because I met someone who filled out the list and that I was attracted to. And we're still together about 35 years later. What the hell does a Rolex have to do with that? Now if I was after a one night stand I'd leave my Rolex locked in a safe.

Very very silly indeed.
Be yourself. Its just a Rolex, and I trust you are a decent judge of character. Now, if you question was -- do I drive my Ferrari or Prius to pick this girl on a first date, my response would be much different. Definitely take the Prius as your chariot of choice. |

This is all way behind me now, but...
I never found that the sort of car I drove or expensive toys were the slightest help in winning hearts, however I do think it depends on the sort of circles in which you move. In more 'upmarket' circles, there would be an expectation/awareness of the trappings of wealth, so material possessions would be noticed.

I’d go out and buy a $300 Michael Kors to really impress her.
Haha no for real, I wore my Submariner everyday and My wife didn’t know I wore a Rolex for probably the first 6 months of us dating. I think we stopped in a jewelry shop one day and the sales person said I like your Submariner, I said thank you. My wife said oh is that a nice watch. I said yeah i think it’s nice, she asked what brand it was and I told her Rolex. She’d not even noticed, but now she has 2 of her own so maybe she knew what she was doing lol. But she gave me one kid and another on the way so we’re close to even |

I was wearing an AP when I met my Wife and she thought it was a kids watch. It was a ROO Volcano so perhaps the orange threw her off.
I was on a bit of an AP high around that time so she didn’t see a Rolex for several weeks. My Wife was wearing a white Casio that her Mother bought her the day we met and it makes me happy every time I see her put it back on. |

It's not just women who check out men, I have started, for some reason, noticing if women's heels have the red soles, and I don't know if that is a good or bad thing if one was to date a wearer/collector.

I think if you are dating someone who considers your brand of wristwatch to
be a significant factor in your suitability, you might reconsider them! |

Much like watches Neil, many are fake. But if they are real, and she's wearing them outside (and especially in the rain) she's most likely more worried that the guy with the flashy watch is the gold digger

Of course, you want to look good for a date - you wouldn't go out and get a bad haircut to make sure she's not with you just for your looks would you?
Anyway, if she was only interested because of your watch I'm sure the relationship wouldn't last too long anyway. IMO those sort of relationships only work when it's what both parties are looking for, in which case a Rolex would be an essential part of getting ready anyway. So on all counts, wear your Rolex. |
