Till Sept 11 2001, I wore my Tridor President almost every day with a suit.... When most of the IT management in financials moved out of NYC proper, I stopped going into NYC and dressing up every day. The dress codes out of NYC became more business casual, so did the concept of time. When you drive to visit a customer over taking a subway, you don't need a watch. The navigation in the car runs your day and keeps track of time. So my watches sat in a box.
Fast forward... Now that I'm getting into this watch thing with my teenage son :-) When I do go to my office for meetings, usually in jeans and some Marvel or Video game T-Shirt, I have been starting to wear the Nautilus. It's under the radar and only a few people who know watches notice it. Most people recognize Rolex, only a few know PP. I did wear the Milgauss to the office last week and was in a casual conversation with my arm draped over someone's half-height cube next to a window and three people came over to compliment me on my watch. The green crystal apparently caught their eye. They all were surprised it was a Rolex, they all thought it was a new type of smart watch that lit up until they came over to actually look. The conversation was so causal, I didn't notice I scuffed my clasp on the edge of the cube's metal frame. Nothing a cape cod cloth couldn't remove with some finger pressure, though I was a little upset when I saw the scuff on the plane flight home. Did I mention I telecommute to Silicon Valley from the east coast and go into the office a couple of times a month. It's sad when they recognize you at the ticket counter at the airport without showing your ID. So yes, now I wear a watch to work when I go into work. I should also mention, my boss and his boss wear AppleWatches, then again it's Silicon Valley... Cheers, Corey |

Yep, every day. Didnt buy them to have them sit in a box or winder. It also feels strange not having the weight on my wrist like another poster. Tried the smart watch and it lasted 3 days before i went back.
My boss knows i like watches, as does he. He usually asks to check out any new watch i wear in the office as his wife doesnt let him get nice watch for himself. No one else in the office notices my sub or djii. Wardrobe is casual here so usually in jeans and polo or a short sleeve button up, with tshirts occasionally. Sent from my SM-G935P using Tapatalk |

Every single day I wear my Rolex. If I was working construction or climbing mountains I would definitely change the bracelets up with a rubber one for those activities.

I wear my subtle GMT Master II to work every day. Quite frankly, I don't mind it at all.

I have owned my Rolex since early November.
Mine hasn’t been off my wrist in 5 days. I sleep with it, shower with it, it is quickly becoming part of who I am. The Breitling hasn’t been worn since I bought the Sub and the Apple Watch has been dead for a couple of weeks. |

Of course. I wear my Rolex to work and drive my BMW. It's not my concern what others think or feel. I buy what I like. If you like Honda's or a Chevy and feel your Timex is just fine. I have no problem with that either. I would kinda like a new Honda NSX.

First post here...just purchased a new Air-King 116900. I’m a bush pilot in rural Alaska, and am very much on the fence about wearing my new Rolex to work at what is admittedly a very physical and blue collar job. Would you guys worry at all about breaking the watch? FWIW I’ve worn a citizen for the last 4 years at the same job and other than some wear on the band it still looks more or less new.
I would imagine a Rolex is built considerably more robustly, but I worry about a hard knock on the side of the cargo pod screwing with the movement. Anyone have any thoughts? |

he has a valid question, not everyone buys or wears a fancy watch, some people don't understand spending thousand on a watch( i mean we do because we are into watches)..so i can see his point, also he might not want to show off, i have a ROLEX and i don't wear it often to work because my watches get banged up in my work environment...i also have a Benz and i never tell people what i drive unless they specifically ask...most my friends i grew up with don't know i have a Rolex or this or that, i don't brag ,i kind of feel bad because they make just above minimum wage, and i don't want to come across as a snob. I mean may be i brag here...because i hide behind my keyboard....hheheh

Used to wear my Exp II to work every day. Never heard a peep or comment from anyone. Which was just fine. :) Funny cause within a month another person started wearing a gold DJ. Which I'm sure he was dying to wear, but I broke the ice. LOL

I wear my stainless DJII 116300 occasionally with a dress shirt but mostly I wear Seiko’s. Our clients can be very poor and I know they struggle to pay us so I try not to flaunt my success.

This nonsensical thread bump was enough to attract at least a half dozen additional posts to a thread that I'd have preferred stay dormant (of course I wear my Rolex to work). Oh well...no one asked me..... |

Why wouldn’t you wear your watch to work?
I could see if you worked either in health care therfore you were not allowed for sanitary purposes or if you were working with machinery and a watch may be a safety hazzard. Only excuses I can come up with. Edit: I must be nonsensical |

You bought it, you should wear it! I wear my vintage 4 digit TT DJ everyday.
I've never heard the philosophy you shared about not dressing better than your boss. Free thought in dress attire for work...You should not dress for the job you have, Dress for the job you want. Strap it on everyday! |

See that's why I started my thread "are we becoming rare" Wear your watch every day, and dont concern yourself with what other people think. For all you know, your boss could have a rolex at home too, that he keeps in the box as well. You wear yours, he sees what you have, then he wears his, you start talking watches, then you start eating lunch together, then you guys golf together on days off. BAM I just got you a F'in raise for no charge...hahahaha
