Vintage brown leather is always a safe bet (not my photo).

Tropic is great in the heat. Bulang and Sons/JPM are excellent straps. Jakoxxx here on the forum makes great straps as well especially in Horween Shell Cordovan.
Color 8 Shell from Jankoxxx

Black Shell from Jankoxxx

Bulang vintage tan

Bulang vintage Piombo

Here's mine http://imgur.com/S0MDFqk on a Worn and Wound Model 1 Horween Crimson. I like the thinner unlined straps the other members are posting too, but I wear those with my 101X watches, which are lighter and thinner. For the Sub I like a thicker, beefier strap, to complement the thicker, beefier case. All personal preference though...

I would go with a vintage ammo strap.

Ted Su straps
De Luca Straps
Dangerous9 Straps

All of them carry vintage ammo straps from different time periods. I would check them out and shoot them an email to find exactly what you want.

I highly recommend Jankoxxx (@watchstrapheaven on Instagram) and Bandrbands.com. Jan makes excellent straps with Horween cordovan and other leathers and is fast!

Bandrbands has an incredible selection (no customs but available in different lengths which is awesome for those of us with diminutive wrists). Try the vintage leather and rally straps!

My next custom will be with Greg Spitz (922leather.com): Surgeon by day, strap maker by night! His pieces are gorgeous!

I also have Da Luca straps - especially excellent Horween Cordovan NATOs and I have Gunny Straps which are also nice, too.

Any brown strap is best for 5513 for its patina markers:
