New 5513

I have been looking for a nice 5513 and yesterday I found one that ticks all the boxes for me. Its from 1980 and has what I think is a Mark II Maxi dial. I'm really happy with it

The pearl does look a little clean and white but not quite so much in the flesh as in the photograph.

I did not ask specefically about the pearl but I did ask about the bezel and David Duggan ( the seller) told me it was original and the watch was an all original watch that they had thoroughly checked and serviced. I trust the seller implicitly. It's David Duggan who is a well known vintage Rolex specialist in London and an authorised Rolex service agent with a very good reputation. The watch also comes with its original papers and a guarantee/certificate of authenticity. All seems ok but if that pearl is a replacement I'm not to fussed and I prefer a replacement to an empty hole

Pearl

Yeah that information isn't accurate at all. There is a metal ring around the pearl. In my own experience the metal ring only exists for newer sapphire subs (like the 16800, 14060, 16610). The fact that the dealer said it's original is concerning.

Otherwise, the watch looks great with the photos you posted.

x2. It would make me nervous that a seller said the watch was all-original despite an incorrect bezel insert. I'm actually surprised the insert even fits. I thought the sapphire inserts were a little bigger, unless it's been shaved a little.

Inserts have become a major issue for vintage Subs and GMTs. Decent, correct examples are often well over $1000 now. Just a few years ago they were a couple of hundred bucks.

The bezel pip is definitely non-Rolex. The rest of the insert may well, but that pip is certainly not.
