1016 Exclamation Dot question

Hi all,

Have been offered a 1960 1016 with an exclamation dot dial. This seemed somewhat odd to me as I thought exclamation dials were c.1962-3. Does anyone know whether this dial is period correct?

Also, on a side note, some sources I've read suggest that the 1016 was manufactured from 63 onwards, but I've seen plenty of pre '63 1016s - like this one: http://www.hqmilton.com/watches/1960...xplorer-1-1016. What's the deal? Is it a quirk of case backlog or have I just read erroneous info?

H

Ex dot is normally 1961-62 so it could be original. The dial will have to be with a closed chapter ring though. 1016 do turn up from 1960 so clearly many of the online sources are incorrect about 1963 start date. I've noticed this previously. Can you upload pics as I love this model and a chapter ring model can be very nice.

Not the best picture but it looks pretty good.

Re:

Would love to see more photos. Crystal seems like a replacement one though.

I've got another photo, which isn't particularly good either.

I do feel duty bound to say that I've actually passed on this piece, and so if anyone wants to get in touch with the seller ping me a PM and I'll happily put you in touch.

With that said, I'm still interested in the exclamation dot history so please do continue speculating!
