KateB~

From one Bostonian to another....."you done good kid"!
A day you and your Father will remember and cherish forever.
No greater joy than the gift of giving to a loved one.

And that Rootbeer GMT is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!

Cheers

Thank you so much sir! It's amazing to know there is a WISe man nearby.
It is such a great satisfaction to see the smile on dad's face. The hard work for the past four years finally pays off.

KateB, that is one of the nicest and most touching stories I have ever read. Your Father is one lucky man - and I don't just mean the watch.

Thank you everyone. Indeed I missed them so much so I came home for the weekend to give him the leather strap. Different watches but same vintage leather NATO.

Wow, despite being an unashamed trf lurker I’m compelled to congratulate you on such a wonderful gesture with my very first post! And as someone who is gingerly coming to grips with fatherhood, i can only hope to do as good a job with raising my two very young daughters as your dad has obviously done with you. The RB and Air King look perfect together and may you both wear them in good health!

Thank you every one for your kind words and sharing your knowledge. I do wish I could turn back time and be a better daughter.

To all mighty dads and moms of TRF:
When your daughter tells you...
I hate you = I love you. I am just a bit any right now and I need you.
You are annoying = Don't worry Dad, I can take care of myself.
Shut Up = I am sorry. I just don't want to admit I am wrong.

I think this is the truest of statements. Just like the piano, he wouldn't trade his job of providing and being a father for any watch. What a nice way to reciprocate your love back to him.

Kate, as an actual father with a son and a little daughter giving out my own dreams to give all I can for them, you made me cry. You are a beautiful person. Thank you for sharing this with us.

"So fathers, be good to your daughters
Daughters will love like you do
Girls become lovers who turn into mothers
So mothers be good to your daughters too

Boys, you can break
You'll find out how much they can take
Boys will be strong
And boys soldier on
But boys would be gone without warmth from
A woman's good, good heart"

Kate,
Your dad must be so proud...

Kate, you are obviously a very special daughter and your Dad must be a special guy to have a daughter like you.

The Root Beer is a beautiful and unique model and what you have done with it is just perfect. Dad can decide for himself whether he wants the polish in the fullness of time.

Thanks for sharing this great story with us, it is probably the most positive one I have read on TRF.

I really appreciate everyone's kind words. :)

Sorry I wasn't responding to some of you earlier fearing I may keep bumping this thread. :P But I think it is bad etiquette for not responding too...

One thing I do want to share is while I was saving & searching for this Root Beer, I have developed a deep interest (obsession) into vintage timepieces and I feel very lucky to find this forum that never ceases to amaze.
