Out of curiosity, did they require a deposit and, if so, do you mind telling us how much?

I am anxious to know how well the 114060 will sell now that it will only be a few hundred less than a 116610...???

A lot of people are wondering that, especially ADs.

I think it's a long shot.

My AD's staff think it will be a hit and will sell as well or better than the 14060M for all the same reasons that the 14060M sold. Of course, I don't think the Submariners were the hottest sellers in the line Rolex watches, including the Sub-Dates.

They did want a deposit, so I left £500 with them. Also price is said to be £4930 including tax at 20%. AD will confirm price closer to release date.

I can't wait.

Boring watch...it's the same Sub with a ceramic bezel. Not interested. I have the 14060M and very happy with it.

As much as I really, really like the new Sub ND, I won't put my money down on it before I can try it in person.

Rolex is basically saying "you want a Submariner, pay X".....The date is just an option for a little more. Up to the consumer if cyclops plus date is important, but, either way, it's a Submariner first and foremost.

I don't think just because they are priced similarly one will automatically opt for the date. There's something to be said for the symmetry and cleaner lines of the ND.

Agree 100%.

The new Sub 114060 has a symmetrical dial with the beauty of it's lume that cannot be beaten. Unfortunately I need a date, otherwise I would immediately go for the Sub ND because of its beauty!

How long do orders typically take on *current* models? I went to the AD to put a deposit down on a 116610LV... He didn't give me a really good answer on when mine would be in. Sounds like 4 - 6 weeks... Seems so far off.

Tom
I went for the non date as I wanted something different from my other watches:
Omega planet ocean
IWC Aquatimer
IWC mark 16
Breitling colt superocean
Bell & Ross 123 vintage.

I did look at the 14060 but I was disappointed with the clasp. I know there are a lot of people who are not impressed with the new Sub, but for me it delivers what I need.
Now roll on September, unless it comes in earlier.

I just don't understand placing a order. I just call my AD and say "put me down for one when they arrive". I never give them money before I get the watch, and I would never pay the MSRP once it arrives.

I'd say you have a pretty good relationship with your AD.

So, if there is another price increase when it hits the ADs, will your AD till honor the £4930 price which you have secured by putting don a deposit for?

No, this is due to the price not being official. We did agree that if I'm not happy with either the final price or watch, I will get my deposit back, which I thought was fair.
The AD is confident that the final price will be released soon, so if I hear anything I will post it.

I'm hoping that the Government reduces vat in the budget, but there is more likelihood of the Locus Ness monster being found.

So, let's say your AD gets the official MSRP for now and the deposit is put against that figure, will your AD still honor that if there is a price increase between now and the release date?

(it has happened before, hence almost every AD will not take deposit to "lock in the price")

I was bitten by the price rise for the new Exp II 42 last year.
When it was announced, it was one price but when it arrived in the UK shops the price had risen for no good reason.

At the time it was thought that a UK Rolex price rise was on the cards and the new watch was being released at the inflated price and then the rest of the range were going to follow on. Here in the UK, the price rise did not occur and so the Exp II 42 seems expensive compared to GMT and Sub.

Strange that you had to put a deposit down.

When I put myself down for the Sub-C I just rang around and put my name on waiting lists. No deposit.

When one came in the AD rang and asked me if I wanted it.
I went straight to the AD and bought it.

What was the promised list price, if you don't mind me asking Greg?

Money talks.

I put down 50% on both my 116200 and my 14060M.

The ADs probably won't need a lot of incentive, beyond that which Rolex provides, to stock the reference, but having some money on the line never hurts to make sure you're the one that gets the call.

I was at AD on Friday and went on the waiting list for 14060M. Not sure I'll be successful as they're as rare as rocking horse s**t in UK ADs.
I tried the Sub C date but it seemed big and cumbersome. I hope the 114060C seems less so.

I know that there was a 14060m at Mappin and Webb in Bristol about a month or so ago. It might be worth your while giving them a call and see if it is still there.
Ask for Mo, he's very helpful.

Cheers.
In fairness I tried on a couple of others that really hit the spot, one being DJII 116334 so if the sub doesn't come off I've options.

I'm on the waitlist, but AD either didn't have it or forgot to call me back, with the release date. Anyone out there heard rumblings when this should hit the shelves stateside?
