Let's See Those Cellinis!

I am curious about the Rolex Cellini sub-brand. Over the years, it seems as if they have made some delicious dress watches. Show us yours!

This should be cool... I've yet to see a cellini thread!

There has to be a few owners on here that'll chip in with some pics.

I find it a bit strange that there is so much love for Tudors on this forum, but apparently less for Cellini.

The Tudors use cheaper ETA movements bought in from outside of Rolex. The Cellinis use manufacture movements developed and built in house. Plus, many of the Cellini models feature precious metal cases. Finally, the Cellinis actually say "Rolex" on the dial. You might say that the Cellinis are more "true" Rolexes than the Tudors.

Guess it must be a style preference more than anything.

I agree with the above. The Rolex Cellini range is a connection to vintage Rolex dress watches.

I don't think many Rolex 'fans' like or think highly of Rolex Cellini, preferring instead other brands such as PP or JLC when it comes to dress watches. As far as many are concerned, Rolex simply means the Oyster perpetual range.

Cellini is leather strap dress watches.
This forum is mostly metal bracelet sport style watch aficionados. Many guys here wear a dive watch as their dress watch.

I'm not much of a fan of "dress" watches. So most of the Rolex Cellini line are less-than-ideal for me. But they are beautiful high quality watches.

It's not a "sub-brand". It's a Rolex.

Thank you for sharing those pictures Sam! The Cellini Prince is clearly on my list, I find it amazing!

Now the question is, should I go for RG or YG?

All of the women's models are quartz. I have read that the men's models are hand-wound; is this true for all of the men's Cellinis?

From my understanding Lisa that is true on the mens models.

The engravings are on point! Not Patek, Vacheron, or Lange engravings, however, high quality nonetheless!

Seems those Cellinis are good looking but at the way Rolex prices them, it may seem more practical to go for the Rolex entry level DJ instead ... or the Tudor way.

If Cellini line comes up with a classic dial in white, RG case and blued hands (no lumes of course) and quartz priced at sub $2k then maybe ...

We have about a dozen Cellini in the store, and while they're gorgeous, they aren't the biggest movers. The Prince is wonderful, and I love how the engravings on the movement match the dial decoration, plus it's the only Rolex with a sapphire caseback (stock). But, there's the cost, which for some models is pretty high (especially the bracelet models for ladies), but some of the Danaos on leather go for $7k, hand wound movement in a WG or YG case. Getting into something in gold for under $10k seems like a pretty good deal.

Alright alright, which one should I start with then?

I must say that the rose gold model has a little something, it looks very fancy yet somewhat simple and it has that very copper-ish tone that makes this watch very unique!

Aren't there any men quartz models? I wouldn't bet but I'm pretty sure I've seen a couple of older models with those movements.

There are a few here and there, you just have to look for them...for a rather long time!

i've bid on a few via ebay only to have them slip through my fingers.

resale is very low imo, and the thin cases are a personal turnoff.

A Tudor is not a Rolex, it never has been although in the past they have shared DNA with cases etc.

As you say though a Cellini is a true Rolex. Just not a very popular one, they always make me think of something a distinguished Grandfather would wear 50 years ago.

I'll play - we took this ladies Cellini from a client on a trade-in for a pair of gorgeous diamond earrings. The entire bracelet is 18k WG and was in almost brand new condition when she brought it (mentioned she has had it for several years and wore it just a few dinners, nothing more).

The lady THREW AWAY the box, papers, and extra white gold links (can you tell she had money?)

...Okay, I can possibly understand to a point that one wouldn't want to keep boxes and papers...but white gold links? Seriously?

Ah well, at least you have that gorgeous watch so it doesn't really matter. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll go flush a couple of my gold rings and perhaps my Jubilee bracelet!
