I am European, and this summer, I have been to Paris, Barcelona, Brussels, Amsterdam and Zurich wearing my pp 5712 and I have never felt unsafe or have had anything happen to me. Just keep your eyes open and avoid overly touristy or dodgy places. Same applies everywhere in the world. As another member said, "my watch goes where I go." What is the point of having a nice watch if you can't wear it outside of your house? |

A quick google can show recent annual statistics that there were approximately 350,000 robberies and 2 MILLION home burglaries reported in the US . Are you only going to keep your watch in a bank vault? OP sorry for your loss. |

Sorry to hear about the loss. A few friends of mine actually got jumped by a gang in barcelona in july as well. The were leaving a bar at night and one of them got a ROO Panda janked off his wrist by pure force.
Here in Sweden those kind of robberies are almost unheard of. So definitely not a widespread Europe thing...

Stolen AP - please be on the lookout >>>>

I agree unfortunately there seems to be organized crime targeting high end watches in some European metros, similar to certain cities in South America. Probably headed here next

Most of Geneva should be OK, but again be aware if you are around the main train station or Paquis area. Probably of bigger concern than a physical assault are the pickpockets so keeps your valuables close!!!! Bon Voyage! Last edited by Nad; 18 August 2017 at 09:58 PM.. Reason: Adding comments |

Plus with the rise of social media more amateur thieves can see what coveted high end watches other than Rolex look like, so I would be extra alert with other brands as well now. That Kardashian robbery was an indicator of the growing dangers, such as posting holiday pics while you are still on holiday, get home first and tell people you are home and then post.

Sorry for your loss. Have you reported to AP and let them know the watch has been stolen?
It seems that AP is gaining an un-welcomed high profile being target by criminals.

Wow! So sorry to hear but glad you are ok. Barcelona has always been a hotbed for petty theft but looks like crimes are escalating.
I always travel with a nice watch but I do have to say that I think about where I am going. If headed to Germany or Austria I have no problems taking my PP 5711 or one of my AP's but when we did Paris and Barcelona I took a nice timepiece but one I could survive without. Same can apply in most large US cities. |

LOL, sounds like Europe is a war zone. Been all over with expensive watches. Never a problem.

And your point is? That somebody who doesn't live in an internet chat room lost something very valuable and wanted to warn people not to buy something that could be stolen? Isn't that a public service to TRF as well as maybe in a very small way helping him (though unlikely).
