Can someone please explain how come they sell without VAT, no matter where the buyer is resident from, as there are only very few EU countries that do this. Afaik, this rule applies to out of the airport boutiques as well.

I wonder if the prices are different at the Rolex-only boutique and the watch store that also has rolexes? I know that a 21% VAT doesn't mean 21% off and I'm fairly certain the Rolex Explorer II price at the watch store with Rolexes was not MSRP-VAT.

They don't sell without the VAT to those traveling within the EU. They just discount the watch the same amount as the VAT.

I thought when you bought a Rolex in the International Heathrow terminal and were leaving the country you didn't pay any VAT and were not charged any fees for the privilege of buying VAT-less. ?

Ok, but you don't see this when buying from Germany, for example. How come it's possible in Holland? And Belgium and Luxembourg from what i know...

I have no idea. I guess since they characterize it as giving a VAT discount to those flying within the EU Rolex chooses to overlook it for some reason.

Gassan, owner of the Schiphol stores, is a big seller for Rolex. They choose to reduce their margin in favour of selling huge numbers.

What happens if you land in AMS and are traveling to other parts of Europe (or staying). Do they just discount the watch? Can you later collect the VAT as well? (I assume not).

Ok.

To explain.

Very clearly.

Whoever you are, where ever you are flying to (or have flown from) the price is Netherlands retail divided by 1.21

And yes, they occasionally get Daytonas

The VAT situation is really simple. If you purchase duty free and are travelling outside EU then VAT removed so in very round numbers that puts a Sub date around GBP 5k
It is the purchasers responsibility to pay the VAT if or when they return home
Some do some don't

You will be lucky to get a skyD steel.

They always have the YM2s

Take the NL retail from Alpino’s thread and divide by 1.21

Since travelers within EU are paying VAT, but given a discount
- I presume we would not be obligated to pay the VAT upon arrival at destination?

Also, does any of you guys know if its possible to visit both rolex stores in Schiphol,
when traveling within EU? Or do is the boutique located in a restricted zone?

Thanks!

Within EU - of course not as the VAT is paid. It is just a discount. Basic EU things.
