Sub 1680 - Fake service dial?

Hi Vintage TRF,
Just a vintage newbie post. I have a 1680 Sub, 3 mil serial. I noticed something unusual with the service dial- there is no SWISS or T SWISS T or SWISS T<-25, or so on at the six o'clock marker (excuse crappy cell phone pic). I've never seen a dial like this before. The gent I purchased the watch from assures me that its authentic. Thoughts?

Thank you.

Likely refinished. Show us the engravings between the lugs so we can make sure it is not a completely fake watch.

I looked the watch over and I believe its genuine save the refinished dial. I think lots of things can be benignly overlooked when it comes to the vintage pieces. The seller agreed to take back the watch and issue a full refund based on my concerns, so I think the thread should end here.

Always amazes me in this day and age of xx megapixel cameras on even the basic phone’s how someone still manages to snap a pic that looks like it was taken on a potato (as my son would say for some reason?)

First step, clean the lens, usually phone lenses have greasy fingerprints on them. Next, when you have the watch in view touch the screen (on the watch in picture) and that will force the camera to focus. If you’re too close back the camera up until it can focus.

You’ve managed to get the cloth in the background in focus at the bottom of the pic so I’d say you were too close for your camera’s close up ability.

Im also amazed at how many struggles with focus. You are correct that he is to close for the camera to be able to focus.

I would suggest backing of 10-20cm. It's better with some "white space" around the watch and having it in focus, the resolution is good enough.
