Is this 40s vintage real and worth the 1k tag?

I know nothing about rolex watches. I wear omega and a few other names. I saw this one and fell in love. Just want to make sure it's legit.

Not 1940s, I would guess late 1950s. Its legit. Its gold capped. Not much you can do to the case otherwise you may disturb the gold cap. Second hand looks a bit short, I doubt its original. Would need to see a pic of the movement to make sure its correct.

I wouldn't purchase it because of the broken second hand and the fact it's gold capped. Stick with solid steel or solid gold.

it most likely has a cal 1030, and, if so, that in itself is worth the asking price.

May I ask why the 1030 makes it worth it?

Reason why I ask is that I have a similar one in steel from the 50s.

I quote: '' I saw this one and fell in love''

So the price tag is worth every penny for that reason...Also 1k is less then the price of the movement alone.

Ah makes sense then. The watch was serviced for the first time 7 years ago and the RSC said they hardly could source parts for it.

how did you get this watch serviced at RSC? Which RSC? As far as I know, 1030s are at least 60 years old - no RSC that I know would even consider touching it. Well, except for heritage department, but their prices are very awaking.

Now days, practically any Rolex caliber (excluding ladies and type 59) is worth $1K or more.

Sent it in directly to Johannesburg RSC. This was 7 years ago though.
