If you have many Rolex already, definitely go for a GS. They definitely caught my attention, especially the Spring drive, what a movement to marvel!

However, not into that GS diver though, maybe the snowflake sbga211, that is some piece! Also more similar in style to the OP your considering.

I hope you like the dive watch! For me the OP39 in white is one of the classiest Rolex currently on the market. One watch I'm looking to acquire. Congratulations on the new GS!!!

Thank you very much guys. Am loving the size, weight and fit. Had the SD43 and moved it because I was struggling with comfort. Miss it sometimes though. This fills a bigger dive watch gap in a good way for me. Need to size it will then post a pic (if I get decent lighting!)

The SBGA231 is my favorite watch right now which is odd as sports watches were never my thing. I think being titanium really helped as it doesn't feel bulky.

I pair mine with an Erika's Original strap.

Try a datejust. But also consider this.
Only problem with this watch is it tends to lean towards dressy. It’s an incredible piece nonetheless.

I am guessing OP39 is not a viable option now as it's just discontinued.

Anyone with the SBGA231/031 notice that the bracelet clasp rattles a lot? Am trying not to care but I must admit it gives the impression of lower quality. Is there a fix?

Sorry not for me. The OP is a far nicer looking watch but its your money and your choice.

Enjoy.

Rolex or GS?

The MM300 is not a Grand Seiko model, but a Seiko Prospex Diver. The SBGA 231 is a GS Diver. I own both and they are very different type of watches from the Rolex mentioned by the OP so I don really understand the choice. I am mostly a Sport / Dive watch kind of guy, so I have watches like these and the Seadweller and Pepsi GMT. Based on this I would rather have the Grand Seiko than the Rolex.

Seiko service

Well if you send a Spring Drive model like the SBGA031 / 231 it will be sent to Japan by Seiko. The only watchmakers authorized to service them are in Japan but I have had watches serviced in both places and they each did very good work.

Grand Seiko USA has been servicing the Springdrives locally in NJ for over 10 years now. Ive had them service both GS and Prospex spring drive calibers and they did a fantastic job. Unless you have a dealer hookup who can get your watch assigned to GS Japan Service for some special reason, if you send to Japan directly they will forward it to Seiko USA for the service work.
