Can independent watch repairers source original sapphire crystals?

I’ve heard that only Rolex can replace a damaged crystal with an original crystal. But I’ve got a independent watch repairer who told me they can replace it with the genuine crystal??? Is this true? Or is it only Rolex who can replace it with the genuine one?

Most parts can be found online (often at astronomical prices) and with the correct tools anything can be done.

Bob Ridley sourced a genuine service plexi for me. Pretty sure that some subset of authorized Rolex watchmakers have access to parts.

The great irony is that genuine Rolex parts are actually the easiest to source without a Rolex account. Good luck finding a Cartier crown or obscure Oris movement part. However, I could have a Rolex crystal, crown, or balance complete on my bench by morning.
