On a list to buy a Hulk

Thank you all for your input.

So at this particular dealer I was told there was 22 people on this list for the hulk making me 23

In the year that it took to get the 114060 I only moved up one place and the sales rep said buying that sub moved me up to number 16. I saw it as building some type of sales history with them.

Is this not common practice?

Also, I’ll take your advice & check in with the dealer in person to see if they will buy it back for ya trade up. And also to check my place in line.

My AD told me this past week they only get in about 2 Hulks per year. May be a long wait.

Literally anyone with credit can walk into any AD and say “I’ll take all your Subs, GMT’s and Daytona’s.” And that means absolutely nothing. That’s a loss for the dealer.

And, “lines” are total nonsense. Do you really think the AD has a piece of paper that he is crossing out and moving up and down names on?

AD's know they can sell any SS watch to anyone, but save them for loyal customers. AD's don't even put SS models in thier display cases anymore. They save them as "rewards or incentives" for loyal customers.

The AD I purchased the no date from said they only get 1-2 hulks and GMTs a year. I'm not sure how long thier list is but I can confidetly say they will not sell them to any random guy who just walks though the door.

They also told me they will not sell you a watch if they think you might flip it.

No it's not.

You put a lot of trust in your AD whilst it is common for AD's to mention that you are on a list which only exists in fantasy land.
Lots of AD's are full of ....

Any customer with a huge spending history will always jump the queue regardless how long other folks are waiting.
AD would run a poor business if he doesn't please his top clients i.e. grey sellers.

Apart from that buying a Submariner does not fall in the big spending category.

If you jumped up the list to get to #16 by purchasing a watch that is hot in itself, the guy who comes after you and buys a less desirable item will bump you back down. With a couple Hulks coming in each year, you’ll be continually bumped down and never get one.

By saying you got to #16 with your purchase, the SA was essentially saying you’ll need to do a lot more than that to ever get a Hulk from that AD. They’re reserved for their top customers.

Looking back at all your advice. I should have listened to everyone that said keep the watch.

I still haven’t been able to get anything from several AD’s.

Live and learn - it’s authentic and honest of you to
Admit this. I hope you get lucky with a sub LV soon
