Bluesy fan or not?

As a fan of the Bluesy I would like to gain a consensus from the forum whether you are an admirer of the TT Submariner 116613LB?

I have read in the past some think its too bling and other like the blue sunburst dial which I believe looks stunning in the daylight.

Do you prefer the TT, Yellow solid gold or white gold version.

To me is a fantastic watch.
I prefer the bluesy in the 2 tones and the black dial/bezel in the full yellow gold.
The problem of the white gold, to my taste, is that the flat blue dial is too cold.

I like it... But I would need another watch. It wouldn't be my daily wearer. It's just a tad too loud for me. I think the black TT is a better one watch option and the CHNR is a better option than both TT subs.

Wore one daily for over 2 yrs then one day I couldn’t stand it anymore. The blue bezel is cartoon and the watch too flash. Give me SS.

The Quintessential Rolex!

2005 Digit 16613 Bluesy is was my first and probably still my favourite of all Rolex's I've owned. Still happy to say it's my go to piece for any event - Formal or Casual. I'll never sell it.

I marginally regret not picking up the Kermit instead - but only from a financial standpoint knowing what we now know!!

Blue stands out too much for me. It attracts attention, which I don't want. I'll take my SS Submariner Date, and SS white dial 36mm Datejust over it. SS is my preference.

Love the Bluesy owned a six digit for a few years. It has a lot of flash, it enters a room before you do, in fact I would argue, its more bling than a solid gold version.

I sold mine only to obtain a solid gold in black. A great reference. Gone but not forgotten.

I absolutely love the Bluesy but I think it is more of a weekend watch - I don't think I would wear it everyday - perhaps thats why you feel out of love with it? It needs to be balanced with a watch like the BB58 or 114060/14060m I think.

I'm a big fan of it in the case and in photos, but not a fan on the wrist. No doubt it is a beautiful watch, but the times I have seen it being worn out in the real world it never looks right. The gold makes it look too blingy for casual wear IMO. Looks better with a sport coat or something more dressy. I think a sports watch should be able to be worn comfortably in casual situation and this watch to my eyes is not able to do that.

It's a gorgeous watch. It jumps out at you and I like that. My only problem with it is too many people own them. Definitely not an every day watch.

Simply timeless and iconic, whether at the AD, on the wrist, in photos or on the table... it's just the most beautiful Sub for me. YMMV

I appreciate it and I understand people love it. I would not wear it as casual watch because to my taste is too blingy and recognizable.

I like the Bluesy colour combination but not the supercase. I would be interested in trying a Bluesy SD43 if Rolex were to make one.

I love it. It has grown on me over the years - used to think it was too blingy, but now I think it’s just perfect. A great mix it up watch that is anything but boring. Don’t own one yet but it’s on my short list. Will go great with my CHNR and my Sub

Believe or not, SS is my favorite on the wrist (hefty yet comfortable, black and steal flows wonderfully together). In the context of your question, I did like bluesy until I tried it on and realized it is just not for me. Pic added. For PM, I am going smurf all day. Though never tried one on before.

I had the WG SubC and now I have the Bluesy. I love the Bluesy way more. After awhile the flat blue just stopped singing to me... the sunburst is, to me, far more appealing. Also, the WG began to feel less special to me after some time. Some say they like the fact that it’s more subtle, but to me, I wanted the gold to look like gold.

My next purchase will be a solid yellow gold sub with a black dial. For me, at least, the combo of metals on the bluesy is perfect, but the solid gold looks fantastic with a contrast of a black dial.

Just my opinion! They are all gorgeous.

Cheers

R

+1 Too much of the 1980's stockbroker vibe. It's from a time where excess was celebrated and it has the same loud, dated look from that time. I'm sure there are plenty of personalities it fits, but it seems like it would come with an oversized three-button blazer and a coupon for a feathered haircut.

For me, it's the best reference Rolex or anyone else makes and the one I picked out to purchase over all others. Now I'm a guy who appreciates other references - the sub no date, TT CHNR, and blue bezel Tudor BB are all on my list in some order (meteorite GMT and Smurf if I ever venture in PM), but I can't imagine ever liking a watch as much as this one. The gold, steel, and sunburst blue all compliment each other perfectly. Doesn't get any better.

I was SS fan but after my father died, a special connection was growing with his 16613 serti dial.
Does this variation count as bluesy?

Everyone owns them? LMFAO.

To me every single post is either a BLNR/LV/Daytona or a BLRO. Those seem much much more common in "what are you wearing" threads than the Bluesy.

Yeah, for one, out in the wild, virtually no one owns any Rolex, but particularly the Bluesy is not one you'll see a lot, if ever.
