Not Bad For An Old Day Date
Just got my 18238 back from the RSC a month or so ago. Looking at 2 seconds a day versus the atomic clock. I am amazed at the consistentcy for a 30 year old watch. Rolex Rules.

That’s extremely impressive. This is why I love the older movements. They were engineered by hand, not on computers. It’s much like the air cooled 911s, they are bulletproof. Then they went water cooled and it was nothing but blown motors until 2010. If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it.

I used to have a 5513 circa 1967 that was gaining 1 second per week. Still kicking myself for selling it

I have an early nineties quick set 18238. Still changes day and date at 12 exactly. Never serviced.

Hopefully your DD was in the other room and didn’t hear you call a middle-aged model “old”...
That Caliber 3155 is just entering the prime of its life! Glad the RSC gave yours to a great watchmaker who calibrated it well enough to yield the results you observed. All RSCs have good watchmakers, but there’s “good enough” and then there’s “great”. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Okay, I don´t have a Day Date (lovely watch, by the way!), I have a 1996 Sub 14060. I picked it up in August after a service at the RSC where I live, and it is showing the same accuracy/consistency as yours! And it doesn't have "Superlative Chronometer" on the dial. Just goes to show that an excellent watchmaker can indeed regulate older movements (mine has the "simple" Caliber 3000) to run within the COSC -4/+6 spd. I'm very happy with the work done on mine! Enjoy your DD!

Update - After breaking-in my 30 year old 18238 is now at +.6 seconds a day (over two weeks). Very strong imho.
