Please recommend a set of screwdrivers.

I figure I'd ask in the vintage section, since some of you guys tinker. I'm looking for a decent set of watchmakers' screwdrivers to size the bracelets mainly. Amazon has them as cheap as $7; for obvious reasons those aren't the ones I'd try on my watches.

For bracelets you don’t need a set. You only need 1.60mm. Get the high torque one.

Both Esslinger and Otto Frei sell watchmaker tools.

Horotec make some good ones and they come hollow ground. Bergeon, which is a Rolex company, also has good screwdrivers but most are not hollow ground if that interests you.

Please recommend a set of screwdrivers.

Sorry but what means hollow ground and what would be the advantage?

I would recommend a hollow ground screwdriver for 20mm Oyster bracelets, one for men's 20mm Jubilees and one for the ladies Jubilee bracelet. By the way, the hollow ground tips are prone to breaking, from the hard to remove screws. I'd recommend extra tips too.

I spent around $150 for my last set of screwdrivers - quality ones are not cheap.

It's a type of blade shape. Hollow ground is a better fit, but is more prone to breaking.

I use a horotec high torque screwdriver with hollow ground blades. Works perfect.

High torque = bigger screwdriver body, easier to unscrew new links (with loctite$

The Horofix 1.7mm seems to be popular (see thread below). I don't have one myself but other TRF members seemed happy with it.

Lots of fancy &/or cheap tools out there.

But once Bergeon arrived on workbench, everything else feels dirty.

Hi Larry!

So I am in need of adjusting my bracelet on my 116234. I messaged Bas and he said I need a 1.3mm hollow ground screwdriver.

Maaaaaaaaaan have I had a hard time finding one. I wanted to ask, are ALL Horotec screwdrivers hollow ground?

I just saw your post recommending Esslinger, but Esslinger says they have delayed shipping because of Covid19.

I'm looking at Otto Frei just now.

Do you know of any place in America that I can order either a 1.3mm or a 1.2mm hollow ground right now that is still shipping?

Thanks in advance.

Not all horotec screwdrivers are hollow ground.

I'm a fan of Bergeon, basic sets start about $110. The Bergeon 1.6mm drum driver screwdriver is one of the best for sizing Rolex bands. You can order it from Casker at:

https://www.jewelerssupplies.com/scr....5971.160.html

I suggest getting extra blades when ordering, they will break.

Good Luck.
