Bracelet Diversity
A collecting quirk of mine is that I refuse to own two watches that have the same exact bracelet. For example, I don't mind if I have multiple watches with Oyster bracelets, but I can't have two that are brushed. One has to be PCL or TT.
I find just as much enjoyment in the bracelet as I do the watch itself. Half the time, with the way our wrists are naturally angled, all you can see is the bracelet anyway! I realize I am in the minority here, but curious to see what others think. Do you enjoy or need the variety? Here is a pic of my current bracelets...with a couple watches in there too |

If I want a watch, I’ll buy it regardless of whether I have another on the same bracelet. Wouldn’t even cross my mind.

All of my Rolexes are on stainless Oyster bracelets (one has PCL). I paid a princely sum to have the NY RSC exchange the stainless Jubilee on one of my GMTs for an Oyster flip-lock.

I have had similar thoughts. I only have one watch so far and it’s a brushed oyster. The next three on my radar have oyster with PCL, gold oyster, and jubilee. And although I want them for the watches that they are, the different bracelets is a huge plus.

I'm 100% about bracelet diversity. I pick my watch each day based on the strap or bracelet I want to wear.

I don’t mind having the same bracelet. But my next watch will be a BLNR to go with my SD43. Then maybe a Hulk or Kermit sometime down the road after that.

I don't mind having the same bracelets, mine consists of mostly Oysters, but there are different combinations to polished/brushed cases as well:
DJII/Daytona = Oyster PCL + Polished case Submariner = Oyster Brushed + Brushed case GMT Master II BLNR = Oyster PCL + Brushed case GMT Master II BLRO = Jubilee PCL + Brushed case

I have the same feeling. Nice to have different bracelets and change the look of a watch

It is nice to have options but in the end it is about the watch. I prefer the OEM that is intended for the watch but will change up at times for fun.

I consciously consider the bracelet as I build out my collection. I agree - not sure I would go as far as saying I would never own two watches with the identical bracelet but was excited when the BLNR went to the jubilee as that was key to my next watch.

Agree. I also like mixing it up with different color leather straps, rubber, etc. Different brands as well. Diversity is a good thing in the watch world.

The collection game is maddening. The next watch always is a challenge. Right now I have a good start with bracelet diversity. Rose gold, yellow gold and brushed. The oyster SS with polished center link is a challenge because that would be the grail Daytona. The jubilee I would want but on a sports watch, that would be the Batman. But then I need some green. Maybe the new watches will have what I need, but green. I also think of bezel and dial diversity. I thought of getting the hulk, all green. I have all black and all blue. But I won’t pay the premium for the hulk, that leaves the Kermit. Get the green but don’t get the green dial! The mind games we play.

Past the basic functions, I go on looks and wearing comfort. Having said that, it transpires that so far I don't own two Rolex watches with exactly the same bracelet. A coincidence or possibly a subconscious choice? My next Rolex will have a different bracelet again to anything I have in my collection. It is not the bracelet I would choose if I could, but it's the default supplied item. I wish Rolex would offer some choice here.

I bought all my watches based on the dial and the bazel or the model only.
I like both jubilee and oyster bracelets.

I do appreciate bracelet diversity as well. I wouldn't say it makes any impact in purchasing or letting a watch go, but it's nice when it works out.
The last few years I've even gone so far as to incorporate 2 leather straps and 2 OF bracelets into the collection, and it's been a real game changer. |

There are bracelets and clasps that disqualify a watch for purchase for me. For example, Jubilee bracelets and I do not get along. I much prefer the Oyster and President bracelets for looks, comfort, and ease of keeping clean. Same thing for tang clasps and deployant clasps that require presses orthogonal to the bracelet; both are "no go" for me. I like the clasps that cannot snag on anything.
One for the reasons I like the Cellini Prince is the "butterfly" clasp on the strap. |

I am more of a stickler for dial diversity. I want to own a couple of different dial colors before I buy "repeats"
