R/C Large Trucks & Buggies

Ok digging in my stash and about 10 years ago or so I got "SLIGHTLY" interested in these and of the 10 or so I had, I still have several BNIB never used or opened up until this afternoon.. Here is one of them still remaining that I held onto just because.. This one is not much special but I do have a really serious one still BNIB with pictures also to follow.. Any others with a interest in these things..?

I have a losi 810 truggy, Nitro plane, and a RC racing boat with a k&b 7.5 outboard still.

have pretty much had every model ever produced since the 80s. Was huge in the RC community as a kid, Wish I kept a couple of the better ones I sold.
The 5b was one of my favorites, I had a Traxxas one that was very similar but I can't remember the name of it anymore. it was 1/6 scale I believe though instead of 1/5.
I bought a bump box for my 710 a few weeks back. Just need a pair of tires as I lost one in storage somehow and i'll be ripping around the yard.

You would be shocked what that 5B is worth now... Much more then I paid about 10 years ago. Mine is BNIB and I broke the tape seals on the box today...

I've been partially interested in the hobby for many years. Very well used Ofna ls buggy, an old kyosho ultima. And a Tmaxx hanging up, everyone should have gotten one of those.

I'm not surprised, they were every teenagers dream when I was in highschool. the Zenoah engines on them were total overkill, Especially with a sport pipe on it.
i'm glad you bought one. most of them have have been beat half to death by now. can't imagine it going down in value at this point.

I have (my son has stolen it from me) a Traxxas e-revo brushless. I have spent at least 1x what I paid for the freakin thing in aluminum replacement parts for all the broken plastic parts. I had RC cars growing up and was thinking to myself as we got into this that it was a bad idea, confirmed. They are fun but such POS. These companies are a parts business. They package the cars up at a price that seems reasonable ~$700 and then they got you right on the hook for at least 2x that in parts, batteries, chargers, etc.

Get yourself a 3D printer. It'll pay for itself, just in R/C car parts.

I actually sold my Baja 5B and Firestorm earlier in the summer.

I did hang onto my Sanwa M11x though and a charger just in case.

If I get back into it (which could happy one day again) I'll give Traxxas a try. Parts availability long-term doesn't seem to be an issue with them.

Always sounds like something I would like to give a go or kind of cool and then this is what always stops me dead in my tracks. More money than what it would be worth, at least for me anyway.

Yeah I dont have the time for that. My hope is that all the aluminum parts I have put on it hold up and it's stays together longer. Not holding my breath but has been ok past couple times we took it out.

I was just giving you an excuse to buy a new toy. The thinking is that the plastic parts (almost always suspension), although breakable, absorb impacts before they get to more vital and expensive parts. Crumple zones, if you will. Aluminum parts are believed to cause more extensive damage. I don’t really break much either way. My son, on the other hand......

Yeah, I race single seaters and my son races karts, i get the logic behind that. I am just not sure that I believe that was the manufacturers intention. For example, the spur gear on these come factory in plastic, mated to a steel drive gear. What exactly did they think might happen there? The plastic a-arms that come on the car are plastic but the replacement higher end parts are hardened plastic, which are significantly stronger. I dunno..... I think its a great business model but geesh. And yeah, my son certainly tears it up more than I do but he does drive it a lot more than me as well. When it works and not breaking, they are cool! Always wanted a nitro one but they are a major PITA.

Thats awesome. I still have my Blackfoot and RC 10, both late 80's and still working if you can believe it. As my kids got older I broke them out about 2 years ago and man its a lot of fun. Went in to a hobby shop to source a part (son ran Blackfoot into curb at full speed) and the new cars have gotten crazy fast.
