RSC change dial of DD40 & keep the old one?

Anyone here managed to keep their old dial when changing at the RSC?
I did some research and it seems that is a definitive NO.

I managed to find olive green dial for my DD40 from RSC, but I also like the current chocolate dial.

I know this is a first world problem but would be curious to hear if anyone has been successful?

How much did they charge you to change it and how long was the process?

My understanding is you cannot keep it if the work is done at a AD no matter what. That is what mine said and the cost was 5 or 600

Haven't done it yet.
I was told around 700 for labor and dial. It will take around 2 weeks.

Bro totally worth it... you can buy the chocolate dial for cheap from a 2rd party. That dial switch will get your watch so much premium lol

That's what I read when I searched through the older threads.
Not sure why they do it. I like both dials to be honest.

I will see how it goes when I bring it. It seems they are pretty strict.
Both dials are very nice. Olive green as the 60th anniversary one is the more special and hyped one.
I plan to keep the watch.

I have heard from some TRF members mention that this Olive dial will not be available to swap yet.

If RSC allows now, I bet a lot of people will ask to swap soon.

This is a good news for most people that wanted to swap but will be a bad news for Secondary market.

I just dropped my DD at RSC for the dial change.
They allowed me to keep the chocolate dial, so I could always change back in case I get bored with the Olive green.
It should take 2 to 3 weeks.

So far I am really pleased how they handle things.

Thats awesome. Who is your RSC man? If I ever want to change dials I want to keep my existing dials as well so it gives me options in the future to swap back if I want to change it up again.

It seems they are more relaxed in the European markets? RSC in the US seem more strict.

I never could understand how they were allowed to keep the old parts anyway. If it were a Porsche or Ferrari you would expect to keep the old wheels if you changed them.

Rolex Benelux. I paid a bit extra and I can keep the old dial.

My watch is basically new (two weeks old). So I think based on that they allowed me to keep it.

Think you need an independent watch maker for that. Also told some authorized centers in middle east might do it.

FWIW, my understanding if the price RSC quotes includes a credit back for the old dial. Though I'm not sure if that's 100% value or how much they deduct from full dial value on the credit.

That's even more surprising that you were able to swap a new dial. At least according to what has been posted here before there is some "minimum time" you had to own the watch before they would agree to change the dial. This would make some sense so that RSC isn't simply encouraging people to buy the less popular models and immediately dial swap them to the hot colors.

RSC will have that detail. Not sure as a buyer you can call RSC and give them a serial and they will tell you the entire history of that watch and whats been done to it.

That is not true. Hearing this a lot. It seems many ADs are either misinformed or feed that to customers in hopes that they will buy more watches to get what they want.

RSC will swap any dial they have in stock that is from the exact same model except “Geneva Specials”, e.g., meteorite on GMTII and new Daytona. Call a RSC directly to confirm. Availability is predictably limited and you may be required to do a service depending upon how old your watch is, but they absolutely will do it.

My watch is with RSC for dial change, so it is definitely possible.
Apparently some RSC also allow to keep the old dial, which is my case.

Will see when they call me to pick it up. It should not take long.

One other thing - on what ADs know and don't know.

I asked two independent ADs if I can order separately an oyster bracelet for the 12th series GMTs.
Both confirmed it can be ordered and it will costs around 2K euro.

Asked the same question at the RSC - it is not possible. You are only allowed to buy a replacement bracelet of the same type you had when you bought the watch.

Just a quick update - my DD is back from RSC with olive green dial.
It took about a week and it is superb job.
The old dial is going in the box.

I have to say both olive green and chocolate are equally impressive.
For time being it will be olive, will see in the future.

I actually bought the watch 1 month ago with the chocolate dial and if someone had told me back then that in 1 month it will be with the olive green dial, I would not have believed it.

I was lucky that the first and nearest RSC that I contacted had the olive green dial in stock.
I tried first with ADs and was told either ''impossible to order'' or ''up to 1 year wait''.

The white tag shows the full serial number and based on that it came with the chocolate dial. The warranty card - not.

It's a keeper I have no plans to sell it. :)
