Would you do this trade? Daytona PM
Hi guys I've been looking to add an oysterflex Daytons to my collection, am strongly considering the pink gold one below. I should add I'm referring to the pink dial one (as I've got too many black watches) Its a 2014 reference, b&p although the strap isn't original, it's a rubber strap which has been cut to fit the clasp. They will trade my 2019 datejust 41,blue dual (jubilee bracelet, smooth bezel) plus US$30,500. Is this a good trade?

not original strap so no, also if you're trading in a watch and then putting 30k cash on top of that there's no point in doing a trade in imo...just add a new watch

Thanks mate, although they've got it as $38,300. It does seem the panda daytonas are really going through the roof in recent weeks here it has to be said

A 2019 datejust 41,blue dual (jubilee bracelet, smooth bezel) plus US$30,500. Is this a good trade? No I won't do it, would rather keep my DJ41 and add the Daytona instead.

Go on the waitlist with your AD, probably 6-9 months, you get the brand new one for that money.

I would do it, the OF strap isn't a big deal as an AD can get you it. Assuming conditions right, you're getting a good price on the Daytona.

I agree, esp not here in HK as well. With 5-7 year old OF daytona (chocolate/pink dials) going for $38-40k I'm surprised at the responses so far but thanks guys for your input

I am considering it because the yellow or pink dial OF daytonas are going for $45,000 atm or more, & being snapped up at those prices. As I already got an AP Chrono this yr and a hublot I'm reluctant to stretch to that much

Did the buckle change post-2014? Why didn’t the store just source an oyster flex? Does it not fit (because the watch was on leather back then for example)?
For me the big question is whether the watch is oysterflex compatible. I’d note the reference number and confirm with Rolex AD/RSC. Technically, if you could get the watch at retail, that would be the “smart move.” If you can’t, you just need to do the math and decide how much it’s worth it to you of course. In this case though, I’d want to add an oysterflex and a service to the price personally (get a real Rolex bracelet, my understanding is that they aren’t cut as there are different letter sizes?) and a two year RSC warranty)). If the math still works (assuming that the watch is eligible for an oysterflex) and if I weren’t going to miss my other watch...your choice of course. Tough for me to decide so quickly! |

Keep in mind the pink dial is now discontinued as well. So if you are set on the pink dial you will have to find a used one or go grey. The newer sundust color has a similar look but its not the same. I would say sundust has a lot more of a warm silver tone to it, and not so much gold or pink.

If you like the watch, I’d say buy it. But don’t like the value being offered on trade. Can you sell it yourself?

As a point of reference, they had a chocolate Arabic on alligator, same year 2014 for selling at the same price.
And also I've been offered less on the DJ for a trade value, this is the highest. |

In the watch collecting game, original is everything.

Shop around SE Asia for ADs - Bangkok might be your best bet to get one at RRP within 12-18 months.

Sundust is insane, has a nice shimmer. But grey would be close to $50k. I think the current deal on the table is not a good one IMO

Yes, and to OP, if I were to consider the trade, I'd want to look for a more recent model if not the newest pink dial (which is slightly different and better IMHO) and more importantly the updated clasp. And for good measure, current OF straps. But the reason they had to cut it is because it's not the newest version of the clasp.

I’d do it for a more recent version. Your DJ is nice, but nothing special. You have the chance at a PM Daytona…go for it!

I would not do the deal. The numbers and the age of the Daytona and the strap do not work for me.
