Too many watches?
Just added a ninth, and it really hit me that this feels out of control/unnecessary. 8 seemed fine. Gotta get rid of one now... Probably a DJ41.
What duration do you folks keep a specific watch on your wrist before you swap with something else in your collection? |

And I'll admit that I bought them all in the last year except the Panerai. Bored pandemic shopping at its worst.

Nice collection.
To answer your question, I have no specific rotation. Just wear what I want when I want. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I don't know, you have all desirable pieces and variety outside of just Rolex. What's the DJ configuration? IF you were to reduce I'd me more inclined to part with the Milgauss, the blue is nice but they just don't do much for me.

Keep what is hard to replace and/or has meaning to you, dump all the rest

The DJ41 - - white dial with sticks on oyster. After the recent Daydate purchase, just can't see wearing it often.

If it feels to many for you then sell the ones that you don’t wear that much. I have 5 not including my wife collection that I wear. So 7 in total. I don’t wear anything nice during the week because of my occupation. Unless we have a client coming in or a new client. I change out every weekend tho.

Even if you rotate evenly, each watch gets worn 6.5 weeks out of the entire year. At some point, you are simply a curator of a collection and each will need service/care in due time. While perhaps nice watches, there is little meaning in watches that get worn that infrequently. Not judging, I had a collection that large at one point too. It occurred to me that they are simply objects that have not acquired any meaning. So I pared down, and kept only the most meaningful watches or the ones that have stories to tell and got rid of the rest.

It’s like the saying, one is too many, 1000 never enough. I never came across a watch that quenched the urge and never had a watch I did not have the thought of flipping. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I would dump all the non-Rolex and one of your Rolex. As mentioned, servicing costs can get pretty expensive and I feel like once one eclipses 3-5 watches, one has too many watches.

I'd look at consolidating some pieces for something special perhaps?
Put some thought into a theme for the collection and what really interests you. |

I had a watch case for 4 then filled it so I bought a case that holds 8. When I filled the 8, I pulled out the old one so my capacity increased to 12!

Oh Are we counting all watches? Or just higher end. If all then 49.

This is an interesting question. I only own one Rolex, and my whole life have only owned one at a time. To those of you that have a few, a dozen, or a few dozen in your collection more power to you. For me, I can only have one “special” watch, one that I truly appreciate and makes me happy to wear. Buy hey, that’s just me. If you have a large collection then congratulations, and here is to your next incoming!

I own 12 watches but only 4 are above 10k. The other 8 watches are affordable and mid-tier. I think a collection of 5 is enough. To me, the perfect collection would be a sub 2k beater, a luxury diver / chrono / GMT and a HH dress piece.

It’s okay, you can sell them off. I like smaller collection. Hulk, Day Date and VC dual time will be enough for me. Maybe add a Patek later on if you think about real dress watch.
