Vintage Rolex dress watch I can't identify

I stumbled upon a nice looking vintage dress watch but I can't figure out its reference nor can I seem to find another similar watch. The watch has 3 stars applied just below the "Rolex" and just above the hands. I believe it is from the 40s or 50s. I don't know much about non-sports vintage watches. Any help is appreciated.

I like the look, but I would be surprised to hear it is authentic.

Never seen stars like that...SWISSMADE looks odds - and the dial is immaculately clean/white for something from the 40s/50s

Others may know more than i do.

Fourtane doesn't list a reference number so it seems to be a mystery.

Anyone else seen something like this?

Why would post that? Is it because it's not a sports/tool model?

I was attracted to the look and 36mm size.

Is it? I like it but buying something without evening knowing it's ballpark value is tough. Do you think it is legit? Fourtane is a legit dealer by all accounts.

How come your photo is the exact same as the one in the Passion Market link?

I guess I was hoping there would be more info than that. Like I said I have little experience with the dress models of that vintage. Could it be that this watch is a one off but that it is still legit and not some sort of frankenwatch?

The size is suspicious, I thought all Precision's were smaller than 36mm? Most were 33mm and even the oversize ones were only 35mm. It may be a bit of artistic license on behalf of Fourtane.

I found this watch on a dealer site in France:

http://www.thebeautifulwatch.com/fr/...calatrava.html

The case looks identical. They describe it as 35mm so maybe Fourtane took some liberty there.

The Rolex text and Swiss Made also look quite similar.

So getting down to brass tacks, are those 3 stars really worth a premium because these two similar watches are quite far apart in price. The primary difference being the stars. Besides the 6062, I can't find much documentation of Rolex stars.

there were 37mm precisions, triple star Rolexes are nothing new, and the price is stratospherically overvalued. it's like a 5-6k watch, star dials were around in the 40's and 50's and are coveted most by collectors when the stars are used as the hour markers, triple star models do fetch a premium, but 4-6x what a comparable example would fetch is absurd

I've been watching this for probably well over 6months now, I find it a much more attractive watch, at half the price and it still hasn't been snatched. and it's an oyster case.

Thanks for that answer. I was afraid this might have been some unwarranted piggybacking off of the 6062 star dial sales which were quite high. Oddly, I couldn't seem to find a single example of a 3 star or non hour marker star dial on Google. I thought Google contained all human knowledge. ;)

This does look like a very nice condition watch, but it seems priced beyond market value. I guess I could consider a low offer.

With the help of another watch forum, I was able to identify the watch as a 9004. It also turns out there was a 2011 Sotheby's sale for $5k. Apparently Fourtane believes the market has become much stronger. I'm not sure I agree.

Andromeda160, you clearly know your pricing. Very much appreciated.
