I have always pronounced it "Pah-Tek" with the emphasis on the second syllable. However I remember someone at Geneva saying the emphasis is supposed to be on the first syllable.

I think most say them in two bunches, so 57-11, but I'm going to start saying 5-71-1. If someone says your own phone number back to you in a strange cluster you won't recognise it.

Actually this was the reverse. I remember thinking TS pronounced it the American way with the consonant skipping, and I thought that sounded wrong and like a sop to English speakers. I'd be surprised if Antoni Patek didn't pronounce the T in his name, first and last.

It’s annoying to hear people that are of means to own a Patek pronounce it such as Pateek, Padek, etc.

Thierry says it multiple times here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJG2PzaFPBI

Sounds almost like "paddock" to me. Definitely Pad-ek not Pah-tek, although even he seems to pronounce it differently at times ......

Yes. He says "PAD ek". That's the way I pronounce it, based solely on the way he says it.

What percent of Patek's customers speak French? In 2017, what percent speak English?

Is French still the working language of the company?

So, damn, I gotta say, as the OP, this is not quite as unanimous as I expected. I'm cool with pronouncing it roughly the way TS does.

People with the last name Patek invariably pronounce it PA-tek, although it often sounds more like PA-deck, with the a sounding like the a in apple.

I've never heard anyone pronounce this name as pa-TEK except for people referring to the watch company and mispronouncing the name.

Yep, he seems to pronounce it differently when speaking in French vs. English. Here's a video in French, for comparison:

Jean Claude Biver in the Hodinkee video pronounces Patek with the accent on the "a" and with an open "e" like in "trench".

Believe it or not, at least in HK I've heard quite a few people (especially dealers) refer to Patek as "P.P." in conversation. It's not any less funny to me at least when mixed in with Cantonese.
It’s a Asian thing, because many can’t pronounce it so we shorten it to just say PP, AP, VC.

As long as you don't say Pah-teek, I will not judge
