I doubt you'll be able to get Orbita or Wolf for under $450. I've had these for about 6 months and they've worked fine so far:

http://www.amazon.com/Brick-Watch-Wi...4390483&sr=8-8

My favorite features are:
- They are modular, so you can ad blocks as your collection grows.
- They can be battery operated in case you'd like to put them in a safe (the battery module is sold separately and it runs on HUGE C or D batteries)
- They are quiet. I can hardly hear anything when they're running
- You can stack up to 12 blocks in one single charging base.

I would think you can get these from Amazon UK. Good luck with your search!

I have three of these Wolf Winders, 2.7's

https://www.wolfdesigns.com/

I think they are having a 50% off sale this month, if not sign up for their mailing list and they will contact you with specials in the future. I have a GMT Master II and an Explorer II and always keep them on the winder so I can grab them and go

I like the Wolf's becuase of their 2 year warranty

Thanks i like the block style of the brick and like you said the fact they can grow with the collection !!!!

And what about leaving them in there can you overwind watches? or if i'm not wearing for a while (month or so) is it better to leave them to go to 'sleep' ?

Only the fact that any wear and tear on any watch myself would prefer the wear and tear to take place on my wrist what they were designed for.And even your 16570 will only take perhaps a minute or so to reset.IMHO no Rolex watch needs any artificial winder only the ones it was designed for and most have two they are called wrists.Just let them stop and rewind reset its not rocket science to do and only takes a matter of seconds and its not a problem to let a watch stop for a month or so. .

Ive had an Orbita for about 13 years. Its very noisy now, I think I might have to lube up the gears or something. I picked up a new Wolf designs winder a couple weeks ago when they had their sale. The Wolf designs is absolutely silent and I really like the case and design of it. I know its more expensive than you are looking for but this too is an investment. You can buy a cheap new winder every 4+ years or you can buy a good one now and have it 15+ years.

No your probably right, just being overly lazy, I was a little concerned that they might seize up or something. and if i do start constantly reset them could i damage the winder etc? Also should I always manually wind them up first as i've notice if i give one a good shake as i pick it up it starts 'ticking' again ??

Just think of all the manual wind watches in this world today Rolex included with screw down crowns. Now they get wound almost daily for decades without any problems myself would alway recommend a wind first then perhaps a gentle swirl just to start. And things like crown tubes, and even crowns are often replaced as part of normal routine service.

my choice was the module 3.0 from wolf designs. here is a pic of my 16014 on one of the winders. small enough to fit in my safe with other 5 winders, yet configurable enough to allow any watch to be wound.

Good luck with the decision.

I used to have one - an Orbita, I think (still have it somewhere - and recently turned down an ADs offer to give me one for free. The one I had wasn't completely quiet, which was a problem as I wanted the watch to wind silently in the bedroom. It was also anything but stealthy - which means it'd be the first thing a thief would be drawn to in the room. Add the inconvenience of a power cord that required me to put the winder in a place I didn't want, and I finally decided its a helluva lot safer and convenient to simply put the watches in a case, and set/wind the one I'm going to wear any given day!
