Trade a modern for a vintage
Hey guys would you do this trade 16610 submariner F serial full kit for a 16013 datejust full kit worn a few times from 1984. He is adding money on top but not sure how much. What amount would make it worth it in your opinions? Pictures attached

According to the owner it has been worn a handful of times. Almost a nos. He even has the Amex receipt.

I would absolutely keep the sub, but you gotta go with whichever one sings to you!

I am not even certain what to price the 16013 he says 4k. I always check around the for sale threads and it's a pretty rare bird to find a 16013 with all the bells and whistles.

A Sub for a TT DJ? That's a super odd trade... unless you're specifically looking for a TT DJ? Personally, I would keep your Sub.

I see that watch as $3.3k top of the mark if you're lucky. more likely in the 2.5-2.8 range. I'm sure the sub is roughly $6k retail. maybe 2.5k cash on top would be fine, but $4k for his is a bit much

I realize I am not answering your question but still this is the obvious truth: Keep the sub. Get the DJ too.

I own both 16610LN and 1601. I kept the 16610LN simply because it looks and feels better. The 1601 is a tag smaller and it is a less "tough" watch (in terms of water resistant, durability etc).
I would not do the trade but keep the 16610 instead. |

I would not trade. Keep your sub and if you want the DJ buy it from him.

I am also a fan of the TT DJ but as said earlier $4K would be a bit to much.

There are a lot of subs around and I do not think the 16013 is that hard to find either. Two different watches for sure. If you want a 16013, look around and save money for one. The price range is not huge so saving 3 grand for one shouldn't be a problem. That's the way I would look at it. The sub is a better every day watch IMHO and the DJ is a more dressier piece IMO so think about how they would be worn. 4 grand min for the trade if it were me but I would not do it.
