Bakelite bezel GMT on Antiques Roadshow

Guy bought it new in 1960, kept all the tags and documentation. Valued at ~$75k. He thought it might be worth $1,500. Amazing. Anyone else see this?

He wears a cheap watch daily....and this one on special occasions...
When he found out it was 65-75K he almost passed out.

Would've liked to see the other one he bought or at least said what it was

Experts is that a fair estimate?
In this instance do b&p double the value?

Looks like the bezel was cracked at 13 too...

1960 GMT on Antique Road Show tonight

The first run 1960 GMT featured on Antique Road Show tonight. I'll have to try and find it online to post the link. Valued with all boxes and papers at 50-75k.
Nice to see. Original owner paid $124 in 1960 for it in Germany at an Army Px.

X 2 Seemed like a very nice gentleman. One question though....

Didn't it look like a Coke bezel? I thought all the early ones were strictly Pepsi

It might have turned black over time (I can't watch the video in my region ), but the Coke insert wasn't introduced till the launch of the first GMT-Master II in about 1983.

Just saw this. Amazing. He was in the US Army and said his Sargent insisted he buy a Rolex before he leave Germany. He was only making a $100 a month.
Here's the video of the appraisal

Adam, here is a lousy screen shot, but you get what I mean about it looking black.

Sure looks black. Maybe its turned to very very dark blue. I'm sure someone will have an explanation.

i can't believe that he didn't have any inkling as to its worth. then again, my father in law has a '66 GMT that his wife got at the PX in germany for $300. it's a gold-print, small-arrow GMT and worth upwards of $10k now. and he had no idea either. (he also saved his box and papers).

the most insane thing to me is that the watch's value basically doubled because the guy held onto his box and papers. how insane is that.
