That's what I though when he said he went XS strap on both sides. Literally an XS on both sides on the smallest hole is like designed for a 6 year old kid to wear. I think AP only made that size for when crazy people want to buy ROOs for their little kids .

Over the weekend I decided to toy a bit with the strap fit.

Eventually, I figured out the best combo was to use the XS strap on the buckle side, and the regular strap at the last hole. That was the better fit without having the watch flop around, while not choking my arm off.

Still too big though.

Tom,

Awesome pick up!

My favorite 44 and I didn't think so till earlier this year.
With my 7.5" roundish wrist, although I can carry a 44, I have always thought that the 42s suit my eyes better.

I might sound crazy, I think it looks monstrous on you, in a good way!
But who cares about what others or I think.

The ankle pic is hilarious, thanks for being such a sport

The thing is, is that I like the looks of this piece, but it really just is too cumbersome and heavy on my wrist. Maybe a year or two ago, I would have been fine with it, but I've been reshuffling my collection to more practical, discreet, everyday wear pieces. Hence my love for my 15202 and 5167.

It's off my hands now. Thankfully I didn't lose anything on it, and I got to answer the nagging question in my head about whether I could do a 44. At least now I don't have to look at other 44s in jealousy.

Damn these PSG boys are looking unstoppable going forward, they will give Man City a very tough time, could be a final for the ages if they meet, a ten goal thriller.

Why won't this thread die? This was my worst watch decision yet in 10+ years of collecting.

In all fairness the 15400 price thread is worse.

Haha, been there buddy, at least it sounds like you got a good deal so shouldn't have cost you too much to go through the realisation.

The bad decisions are the ones which leave you with a massive hole in your bank account and no watch on your wrist, had a few of those myself unfortunately!

Not as bad as the TT thread where a new member as he was then and is certainly not now many years later, said TT was for people who couldn't afford gold. Man he took stick every year for that, and years after he fully retracted that comment.

It's like announcing a new girlfriend, having broke up with her, and having people months after the break-up continue to say "congratulations, hope you are happy together!"

Come to think of it, this actually wasn't my worst watch mistake. Worst mistake back in the day when I was getting into the hobby was paying full MSRP for a JLC - I got taken to the cleaners on that one. I also sold my blue dialed 15300 for $6,250 back in 2009. At least I didn't have to lose a penny on this one (took a small hit on the XS strap though.)

Order a smaller case as well! It looks like a shoebox on your wrist.

Well played, OP. You put yourself out there and had a good laugh at your own expense.

The 44 was way too big for your overall size. I have a 6.25 inch wrist, but the watch looks puny compared to my forearms, palm and overall body size - 6"0 and 200lbs.

Wrist size should not be the only factor in assessing watch suitability.

Everytime I think about having sold my 5711 white for 20k I just remember all the guys who’ve sold vintage Rolex over the years and where the prices have gone on those! It’s all in the game

Well, the way I make myself feel better is telling myself that the $6,250 invested in index funds in my portfolio back in 2009 has close to quardrupled from then to now, and has enabled me to upgrade to this beauty:

It's a sad state of affairs when you turn to day trading to get away from the stresses of watch trading.
