Side Note: Pretty much any model/color combo that only comes in a PM. Being made in a SS version pretty much what everyone says they want. The reason Rolex does give us those color combos and configuration in SS is because they want you to buy the PM model to have those. Of course a DD in SS would be a big seller but i personally would be pissed if they did it. It takes way from the reference.

I completely agree with this logic. Some models are meant to stay in PM such as the DD, smurf sub etc, and I would be annoyed if they offered those in steel. However there is one model that I think Rolex is being silly with by only providing it in PM, and that is the ceramic BLRO. IMHO to only offer a model that was previously offered in steel for YEARS is just asinine. Yes, yes I know the BLNR is supposed to fill that gap now but it’s not the same in my mind. Oh well maybe one day.

Rolex should announce that they are going to increase production on models that you have to wait years for.

AD's sell them for MSRP and the gray market sells them way over MSRP. How does that help Rolex's bottom line?

They will combine the hulk and sd43 and make a hulkier 'seaweed dweller'!

Forget new watches, I just want them to up the production on Daytonas so I can walk into any AD and buy one whenever I feel like it.

May not need to raise production as many as you suggested. But at least to a point where people can wait for 3-4 months to purchase one at MSRP would be great.

What matters more is scarcity in the marketplace for a luxury brand to maintain itself a luxury brand.

What and watch all the TRF invested collectors take a bath; I'd like a reasonably priced Daytona but that would be sad.

That will never happen. They always say the Day Date will be in PM. Although, I believe there are some steel vintage pieces. How they were produced is anybody's guess.

Rolex have always put out that it was a cost issue, all the R&D and the high breakage rate meant that they would need to put a £2K ie $3K premium on it over the BLNR model, so the question is would it be a great seller at £8.5k? Would you pay the premium?

It might sound foolish but I probably would pay the premium haha. I see your point though, and agree that it would place the reference at an awkward price somewhere between the price brackets.

I would be pissed if they update the stainless steel submariner after I finally decided to buy (maybe next month, waiting list).

I bet the next big generation jump will finally have ceramic dials. Omega is ahead at that. Some people don't care, but I like watches that age looking as new as possible. :)
IMO, they will inevitably migrate to it too, as the advantages justify it.

I suspect if they could now get the colours a more distinct red and blue then quite a few buyers would do so too, and the idea of paying a premium is fast becoming the norm in Rolex world, a few years ago this idea was not tenable, hence it went on the WG.
