You can find it on Amazon or Barnes and Noble for around $230. Its limited to 2750 copies, and I have a very high number (not sure if that's indication that they are nearing the end of their run).

I'll try and post some pics tonight.

Here are some pics. Does a great job of showing the history of Blancpain dive watches, as well as going into historic dives.

Very cool. Thanks Speedmaster! I like that page on the Bathyscaphe.

What do you guys think about the BOC-3? It has a few very nice features ... 40 mm fits nicely on the wrist, LOVE the diamond markers on dial and bezel etc. One "issue" is I'm not a fan of shiny sunburst dials, especially on a dive watch, which I think should have purely matte dial.

Any owners on TRF? How dominating is the shiny dial in real life?

Any rumour on whether the new limited editions will have shiny dial or not?

Thanks :-)

Thoughts on Blancpain Fifty Fathoms

When it arrived, I was wearing my platinum Daytona. First impression on the wrist was that it wears slightly smaller than I was thinking. 30 minutes later and it looks great.

The dial is awesome; it has just the right level of depth and interest without being shiny and washed out. Both the dial and the strap are a very dark navy color, so it can look black or blue depending on the light.

I’m not sure if this watch is staying or going back, as some items were missing from the box. If I can’t resolve with the dealer, I’ll definitely be looking for a replacement. I love the watch!

@diracpoint
The dial is actually matte, not shiny. The sunburst effect, when you see it, is from the texture on the dial. This is much more reserved and subdued than a Rolex blue sunburst.

Thanks! I thought the Ocean Commitment logo might bother me, but it’s really well done and balances the dial in person.

Congrats bobernet! It looks amazing!

Glad to hear the dial is not too shiny. That's what I saw in some other pictures on the net and got confused.

Enjoy!

I believe we should be seeing something from Swatch early next week.

Here are some photos of my Sub and 38mm Bathyscaphe. The 38mm Bathyscaphe has a much thinner case and wore much smaller. It was very comfortable on a nato strap on my small wrist.

Indeed they have an event planned right? I’ve been anxiously awaiting a reveal here. Trigger finger itchy as hell but I keep reminding myself I need to wait for the new fifty fathoms to be announced.

I am waiting, too. Looking forward to a release from Blancpain to get excited about.

Here is the first news I have seen: https://deployant.com/time-to-move-n...s-swatch-week/

Interesting year for Swatch Group no being at Basel. Looking forward to seeing the new novelties!

Sadly I'll have to wait another year for a regular Fifty Fathoms in 40mm. But why? I don't understand this decision, yet they release LEs from year to year. It's the only dive watch I really desire.

Nothing wrong with a LE. You can still find Tribute to MilSpec, Ocean Commitment III on the market.

I am really happy with my OC3.

Looks like the swatch event "time to move" is being held may 14-16 so we should know very soon!

I think you’re right. There are many who want a regular no date 40mm FF. But, they seem to be selling the ones they make just fine, so...

With no Subs around you would think BP would have a 40mm FF to buy!

I still don't think 40mm is the direction to go for the normal FF. The original was 42mm. Plus, these watches really do wear small. The current sports watch environment is maxi subs and large-wearing ROs. I think the average person would think a 40mm wears very small.

I understand this line of reasoning. What do you think about the idea of a 40mm Bathyscaphe? The 38mm is kind of small and proportioned differently, while the 43 is pretty large for those who like something in the 40/41 range.

That’s a beauty Bob I’d love to see one in the metal, but then again it’s probably best I don’t

Yes, very beautiful watch! I got to see it at the NYC Boutique when they first came out.

I think a 40mm and 43mm bathyscaphe makes sense, instead of a 38mm.
I actually wonder what their sales breakdown is between the 38mm and 43mm.

Thanks, Brian. I’m not a huge fan of the Sub, so this one does that duty for me. It wears small, but I like that. Not a super case / larger watch fan.

I just have to comment on my recently acquired Bathyscaphe. The power reserve really is 4 days--it's remarkable. Nothing else like it as far as my basic collection. I put this away on a Friday after work, and Tuesday afternoon- still running!
