Cliff notes....
"Audemars Piguet has announced a formal partnership with Disney-owned Marvel, but has provided no details of what it will mean for super hero or angular luxury sports watch fans." |

Makes sense, as when you run out of original ideas just use someone else's. Saw the new green dial Plat AP and came away completely underwhelmed. Nothing really that new and inspiring imho. A sports watch without seconds hand or some other true sports use? Hard pass.

interesting....
I like the Marvel movies, seen pretty much all of them. There are quite a few watch references in the movies...Ironman and Dr. Strange immediately come to mind. I imagine there's a good chance they'll all be APs from now on... https://www.prestigetime.com/blog/th...perpetual.html https://www.wsj.com/articles/how-to-...ch-11571316435 https://www.spotern.com/en/spot/movi...jr-in-iron-man |

“AP is not the only watchmaker working with Marvel. Citizen has also been making Marvel-themed watches as part of a wider deal with Disney for the past two years.”
Well good for one of the very exclusive members of the “Holy Trinity” or should I say “Holy Quattro” if we also include Citizen. Nothing attracts new customers to such horological loftiness like being in a super hero movie franchise. |

I say this is great.
AP keeps pushing the boundaries on how to attract new clients. Love the vibe around the brand now. So youthful but always anchored in rich heritage. ps: Feel like taking a dig at the other houses that are stuck in the past... maybe another day LOL

So the super heros will feature AP watches on their wrist during combat? ? The last luxury watch that was featured in Marvel movie got smashed up pretty badly ( JLC Master perpetual in Dr Strange ).

Honestly, I'm down with an AP x Marvel collab. Bring it on. Take my money. Just don't be too cheesy.

Advertising via product placement when you're turning new customers away at the boutique?
Is Captain America going to wear a code in the first movie until he gets the call for a RO?

Absolutely NEVER mix superhero entertainment with an ultra-luxury brand. I'm still in shock over this and I'm sure back at the PP headquarters they are having quite the laugh. I couldn't even see Rolex doing this. Maybe a few NFT models next?

Yet we call Rolex models, Hulk, Batman and Batgirl and the demand seems to be through the roof... Every hot model will still sell, regardless of affiliation, and maybe this opens up the brand to others who don't pay attention to it. As long as they don't make a crappy looking watch, I'm not concerned.
